I've got a new toy, a scanner, so have been digitising some of my Blades 'memorabilia'. Found this pamphlet in a box. It tells the story of the club's tour of Canada & the USA in the summer of 1962. Quite an interesting read ...

Is this still available Escafeld - link is dead. Would love to see it.

If you look on the 60 Years Ago Thread (search that title and my user name), from post 934 on, there are details, and I photographed most if not all of the text. Let me know if you have a problem, and I will post it again.
Can’t seem to find it. Can you send a link rather than repost it?

Don’t think that did work. The thread title is ‘60 Years Ago This Month’. Let me know if you still can’t find it - my young ‘un is coming round this evening, and I will get him to show me again (!) how to do links. I am hopeless with technology. Apologies

That seems to have worked. Once you're there, scroll down for the rest of the pages.

A long shot for information: does Bob Widdowson still live in this area? He was a young goalkeeper on the tour, but broke his arm and returned early, if I remember correctly. Last I read about him he was still involved in coaching young goalkeepers.

I had the Canadian tour badge as part of a 5,000 plus blades badge collection .
There were very few I didn't have .
Sadly I had to sell my collection to fund my divorce in 2012 that lasted over 4 years and cost thousands.

Mentioned I'd sold a collection of over 5000 different blades badges in all colour versions to cover my divorce fees 10 years ago
Just found this rare one I made many years ago when it first opened.
SHEFFIELD TAP , PLATFORM 1B
blades real ale camera member badge.

This suggests he does still live in South Yorkshire: Swinton’s Bob Widdowson has been recognised by the FA. I may be missing something, but I don't see a posting date on that page. However, while he received the award referred to in the article in 2018, he's stated to be 79, which suggests that the time of writing is between September 2020 and September 2021. At that stage, according to the article he was taking young goalkeepers for private sessions, his last permanent gig seemingly having been at Notts County Ladies.

There's a link to an interview he did with an American podcast, which may give more information about his coaching. I haven't had time to listen to it yet.
