Wooooooooh season starts today, thank fuck! I've got that buzz about me again, and I can't wait. I hate close season.

I tend to stay off social media during periods of no football - just browsing from time to time to see if owt concrete has happened. Kin ell, if I want to listen to people moaning and groaning about woah is me and how life is soooooo unfair, I go with my grandkids to a play centre and watch all the kids moaning about wanting ice cream and squabbling on the apparatus.

Could transfers have gone smoother - of course they could. Does it knock my enthusiasm and excitement for seeing the Red and White Wizards run out at BDTBL tomorrow?..... not a chance. We are back in the big time and I feel as excited as I did going to the games back in the late 60s as a young boy.

I'm optimistic too. We are Blades, in adversity we rise to the challenge - bring on the wannabe Cockneys from North Surrey - we'll cut them down with our Sheffied Steel. And if not, well, we'll be disappointed for half an hour or so, then have a couple of beers and get ready to go again on Friday at the Scabs.

Good post and very true.

Our fan base always shows the most passion when we’re underdogs facing adversity.
So I’m expecting a really good/ heated atmosphere this season.

Where as last season when we were winning matches near the top of the league,
there was a fair amount of entitlement in the crowd, so the atmosphere was surprisingly poor in large parts of games.
On the Kop we used to joke that the ref needs to send off one of our players to wake the fans up to create a better atmosphere.
