I know what you mean, I just think a lot of fans have a sense of entitlement given the history of their team. Yes we've done well in recent years but right now we're in the 3rd tier because that is where we deserve to be.

we have got to play offs in both seasons, such as wednesday fell in each relegation to 16th and 17th in league one
we had one horrendous season of managerial calamity, , entwined with the biggest cruciate ligament list in football history that saw us use 42 players in one season, and then got our star player jailed at 5 to midnight at the end of a season of unprecedented closeness, where 90 points wasnt enough, a total that would have pissed the title this season, we have been relegated twice from the prem , both times on goal difference, we are hardly what you could call lucky, but maybe our lucks changed , Martinez choosing Everton might have been a stroke of luck for us , we can but hope

My point general though it may be is overall we are by definition a mid table championship team, and this is born out by if you take the average over 50 years , it doesnt alter , at all

At the end of the day if the same season the pigs won the premiership and we finished 26th in the northern premier we'd still be better then them tossers.

facts are straight forward
under Wilson
first 23 game half season 45 points
second half season again 45 points = 90 , normally enough to win the title , not this time
third half season 23 games 43 points
2nd half 23 games , including morgs 5 games 32 points
fell away from 2 points per game to 1.5 per game

We just need Weir to get us that .5 points per game back

football is simple . 2 points per game your definitely in contention
2,2 your definitely champions

youll lose 8 or so games in 46 , draw some ,but so long as you put away the beatable ones youll be in there , by that I mean the 15 or so teams we are still more capable than , its not rocket science

Saw an 'all-time' league table a while ago based on points won and I think we were something like 6th with the pigs a dozen or so places lower. Obviously helps being an 'old' club and for this, 90 pts in Div 3 counts for more than a mid table finish in the Prem !

I also seem to remember a table based on average league position in which we were around 20th.

The all time table is very accurate , for eg pigs have had 5 more seasons in the top league but more below us still so its pretty accurate. Although we not won much we are consistant, we , us and the oinkers have spent a very similar ammount of time in the championship and we average 1.4 points per game to their 1,1, they tend to have the odd very good year followed like the last decade being below average, but talking it up ie we are massive when that is clearly not the case .
We on the other hand finish 3rd to 8th a lot just miss out on going up and get maudling about it , when in reality we win more than we lose, we tend to put ourselves down more, probably less deluded

At the risk of being cynical, finishing bottom of the Premier League does not make you the 20th best team in the country. Fairly sure QPR would have got a beating off a fair few championship sides this season and the year we finished 3rd in League One we could have demolished some relegated Championship clubs.

actually it does as your not 19th or 21st, in real terms out of 92 you were in the top 20 ,
you earn the right to be in the prem so you take your position from that

but the only time its misrepresented is after a play off when a 7th club can be better off than a 3rd placed club , which is in my mind deeply flawed

We're not in the Championship we are in League One - slightly better than the Pub League but not much!
I've just looked at the fixtures ...................Orient, Walsall, Colchester, Rotherham, Gillingham and the likes will be visiting us next year ! Stats over the last ten years doesn't matter .............ask the Wolves fans!!!

built on myth
they had one more season in the top flight due to a toin coss , the first season
as I pointed out wednesdays had more one off success , but consistancy wise we hammer them

AND THE ONE SEASON IN DIV 4 , , thats like wiped out by the owls having 3 more in div 3

the only difference in amount of games played are the 5 seasons in the prem pigs had only playing 38 to our 46, overal over 120 years we have been in the same division as an average and our average finishing position is higher, of the 92
