Just been talking to my brother. He's thick so reads the Daily Mirror & he assures me it was in last Saturdays edition that, when we played Donny a week ago, there was no agreement in place that said Sharp couldn't play.

O'Driscoll said he 'Didn't think it would be right to play him' v. us.

Can anyone confirm/deny this (I've tried the Mirror site)? If true, we've plumbed new depths of incompetence.

Tis true my friend
Whilst there was nothing in the deal to prevent Sharp from playing O'Driscoll thought it the right thing to do and not select him!

It was certainly reported in the Daily Mirror that was no agreement not to play Sharp. But that doesn't necessarily make it true!

Err where have you been all season on the moon?

This was old news when we palyed donny early on this season

I heard the SOD interview - last week I think - on RS.
O'Driscoll said that it would not be fair on Billy or Sheffield United to play Billy and that he was very grateful to us in letting them have Billy in the first place.
There is/was no agreement in place other than SOD being a true gent and doing the right thing for all concerned.
AND----the quicker he is our manager the better !!

'we've plumbed new depths of incompetence'

And your point being?

My point being who the fuck is meant to be running this 3 ring circus? (Sorry, Swollenengland that's it's taken me two whole hours to respond - I've been 'on the moon'. Or getting a life.)

Add the 'whole season loan' of Kyle Walker (which ended early with 5 minutes notice) and I thought we'd stopped all this amateurish crap with the sacking of Robinson.

If Trevor Birch isn't going to emulate Sam Ellis i.e. snoozing on the back row of the directors box, he needs to get his finger out and start dishing P45s out.

Starting with Blackwell.

Sorry to offend but both loans [Sharp and Walker] were done on normal terms; some loans have terms attached some don't.

SOD did an honourable thing which was probably in Billy’s best interests and also was a good gesture to SUFC.

So what was the point you were raising, what did we do wrong?

See you earlier point. Any half-decent admin. would have made damn sure BS couldn't play (and probably score) against us. What's in it for us? We've been deprived the services of a prolific scorer (I know, I know, Blackwell could make Rooney look shite), we're down to the bare bones with players and have to fork out for other teams' unfit, untalented cast-offs and, to top it all BS will probably ensure that Donny finish above us.

Sorry if I seem to be reading too much into this, but this epitomises the slack way United are being run. I'm sure there wouldn't have been such a laid-back attitude among some if Billy had scored last week.

"But he didn't!" some may say. Yes, but only because O'Driscoll seems one of the few honourable people left in football.

That scenario should simply not have been allowed to even be contemplated if certain people at the Lane had a bit of foresight, nous and professionalism.

Ever thought that maybe SoD said when they took Billy on loan that he wouldn't play him, thus negating the need for a clause?

Considering Sharp hasn't played, doesn't this actually demonstrate some foresight and nous?

Strange thread really. Damn you Sheffield United for not doing something that didn't happen anyway....
