Excellent today, Blades. Apparently Radio Sheffield said it was 'only Hartlepool'. Yeah, that Hartlepool who had a better away record than everybody else apart from MKD and Charlton - and even their beloved Wendy.

Thanks to our harrassing and sharp tackling it became men against boys. They all deserve praise tonight, but I thought Lowton and LJ-F were outstanding. But for me, the stand-out performer who often gets overlooked simply because his consistency is taken for granted is Harry 'The Tank' Maguire. What a legend he could turn into. Immense strength, no little skill and that which can't be taught - a football brain.

Also, I think bringing Beattie back could be a masterstroke. Far too little time to show today, but he gives the crowd and therefore atmosphere a tremendous lift.

So job half done. If January should pass without any ins or outs, I'd be satisfied.

And a Happy New Year to all on here!:clap::clap:

I also thought Harry was outstanding today. The only player who i thought was disappointing was Porter.

Err...Porter scored Brownie. That should make you at least a teeny-weeny bit happy with him.
Or can you not get through a game without slagging at least one player? :-)

Disagree with you you,Brownie. I thought Porter played wee, supported Evans and held the ball up well. Smae he missed the sitter in the 2nd half.

MOM for me ? Doyle.

Thought Harry was ok, but far from polished and needed a good bollocking or two from Collins. Looks composed but whilst it pains me to say after the nightmare last season, Collins is the true rock at the back, but Harry and Collins are forming a fantastic partnership.

It was all about partnerships today. Willo and lowton linked up very well down the right. Flynn and ljf down the left. but doyle and macca looked lively, bright and intelligent in the middle whilst mixing it when needed.

Ched just needs a fit BT or cresswell to play alongside

Doyle was probably my MoM today

I call it as i see it, and i think Porter is shite, if we had someone decent up front with Ched we would have scored 5 or 6 today.

Agreed. Porter was poor today despite his goal from a yd.

He's Danny wilsons 1st bad signing

Fair enough Brownie. Porter will never be a Rooney or a Drogba but he did what was needed today (scored) and played a big part in a good win. For that he should be complimented.

He's 18. FFS!!!

What's your point? I'm responding to the tank comments. Stop getting over protective :)

Scored from a yd, fucked one up from 6. I think it's disgraceful that anyone passes to him when he's so far out

I think people see what they want to see when it comes to Porter. I thought he was one of our best players today, won just about every header that came his way but he often didn't have anyone near him to win the second ball. A bad miss in the second half but apart from that I don't think he did anything wrong.

Whilst I was screaming at Porter like the rest of you for missing that sitter, I thought he had a good enough game. He certainly linked up with Evans well, and caused them problems.

Collins has been in absolutely brilliant form of late. My only real criticism is his tendency to spoon clearances out of play, and occasionally take too long to get rid.

He's an 18 year old League 1 centre half, Swiss. He's had a great first half season. What do you mean by "polished"? Do you expect him to look like a seasoned international? Given his age and the shambles of a first team he came into, I don't see how he can be faulted.

A completely unintelligible comment. Must have been translated from the German.

Why would it be translated from German? I apologise for adding some lighthearted fun to the thread. :)

I mean he's far from a finished article, not a criticism by any stretch.

perhaps i was at a different game but i could swear porter won nearly every header.. the one he missed wasn't an easy chance.. it came across his body left to right and he had to open his body and side foot it.. it's a difficult skill withb a high speed pass
and anyway we won..again.. heh nowt to moan about some people :)

I thought Porter had a much better game than usual. Didn't think he was brilliant but he did his job well enough. Scored but missed a sitter.

Porter had a good game yesterday.

He won a hell of a lot of headers, something that neither he nor Creswell have managed all season and he holds his position excellently - allowing Ched to do whatever he pleases.

Not MOM material but the best shift he's put in for us so far.

I thought Lowton, Doyle and Ched were outstanding.

I was impressed with lowton today. All the players that we might get offers for played well. Hope there werent any scouts there

independent of our thoughts a quick run through sky sports score centres minute by minute report actually puts
Sheffield United are in control of the game key player , Porter

which backs up my thoughts he had his best game
I try and consider he started with us needing to recover from a year long injury
Hes recuperating nicely now , give him some leeway , still think hell score goals

Doyle is quietly winning me over. Despised him during the Bradford JPT game and I began openly mocking him (was watching on TV) and then I thought he was dreadful against Oxford too. However, in the last couple of games, I have seen a few little things. He is winning the ball more often in midfield right now which was my main concern with him. His job is simple really - win the ball, give it to McDonald. If he is doing that, he is doing well. He did that well yesterday - as well as getting an assist (of sorts) for Porter's goal when he won the header that sent Ched away - and for me, he was the MOM.

I think there's a few players reminding us just how quickly we are to judge. Perhaps Porter deserves some slack.
