What the hell is going on here then? Surely an injury-prone second choice 33-year old who has been on the bench all season and limped off during his only start is the very definition of "dead wood".

Why on earth would United's directors be trying to agree a contract extension without waiting to see what the new manager wants to do? Can it really not wait another fortnight or so? Either they're being idiotic or they already know who the next manager is and what he thinks of Wright?

Sky Sports article:-
"Sheffield United are hopeful goalkeeper Richard Wright will extend his stay until the end of the season. Wright joined the Blades on a four-month short-term deal in September following a brief trial spell.

And despite injuring his thigh on his debut at Barnsley earlier this month, Wright is understood to be discussing an extension with Bramall Lane's board of directors. United have recently been given permission to talk to Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll about the vacant managerial role at the Championship side after Gary Speed left the post last week to become Wales coach.

However, the board are reluctant to wait for a new manager to entice the former England international to remain with the South Yorkshire club and have approached the player about prolonging his stay themselves, according to The Star."

I think this just says a lot about what the management think of Akhsulu, If wright goes, he is our only replacement, and it appears they are unwilling to give him a chance. I just think its for safety reasons, considering that simmo has made a couple of mistakes this season.

I think this comes under the heading

"Spending a lot of money the wrong way"

A decent back-up keeper or some new "Big Kev's Place" signage and bathrobes next door though?

We got away lucky with Kev buying that Hotel off of the Club, it could have been a Hotel and a Casino at one time, 2 for a Quid
