Are McCabe and Princey going to back Adkins financially in the summer with money to buy players?

What figure do we reckon he needs to get us out of this hole?

What figure do you reckon he'll get?

Is Adkins the man to do it?

Four questions . don't think there is one answer with a Yes . It's not all down to money its down to good management and leadership . We have neither at any level within the club .

Time and patience is required but they are not part of the football vocabulary . Also 5 seasons pissed up the wall does not help matters,

I think its more a case of boxing clever more than gung-ho........we all know that a clear out is desperately needed but any money given would be a start to buy fresh faces that this stale squad needs........maybe a million from upstairs with a promise of all monies generated from sales as well..............i personally don't think NA is the right man for us,hope he proves me wrong but one thing is for certain he needs to get em performing a lot better.UTB

Time will tell. They simply have to in my opinion. Any half-arsed attempt to cheap our way up won't be tolerated.

I'm happy to let Adkins oversee the overhaul. I want to see how he actually wants us to play, not just how we have to because of how limited our squad is.

Just looking at what Chris Powell did with Charlton in 2011/12, by the end of August that season he'd shifted 12 out & brought no less than 17 players in!

Of those going out, they'd have picked up decent amounts for Carl Jenkinson & Rob Elliott (to Arsenal & Newcastle, repectively; both undisclosed fees). They weren't buying top level players - plenty of free transfers. Three disclosed fees, totalling about a million, & quite a few undisclosed (maybe Hamer from Reading, & Morrison from the pigs being notable, but not amounting to more than about 3 or 4 hundred thou between them, I'd have thought). Given that Jenkinson was rumoured to have cost more than £2m (I think?), the whole thing transfer-fee wise was probably self-funding.

But the point is that Charlton didn't spend any more than £2m by the looks of things on transfer fees (probably considerably less).

Of this fabled "£8 million" season's investment, assuming it continues apace next season, a quarter or less of it would need to be spent to match what Charlton shelled out to make themselves champions back in 2011/12. Is it too much to ask that that sum be committed by the owners/board to fund transfers in, & that they commit to not selling Adams/Sharp/Brayford (even of one or other of them indicates they might want to go)?

I guess 'the question' is, is Adkins the man to do 'a Charlton' or repeat his former successes in getting teams out of this league?

I seem to remember that Charlton team grinding out a hell of a lot 1-0 wins that season...

There is only one master plan and it is not about spending money on players, it's all about the manager using players from the very exspensive Blades Academy.

Wasn't that one brought out when Weir came in?
I'm getting deja-vu..!?!?

Would we be having this conversation if Che or Billy had taken any of the 87 chances we had today?

It was the best sustained performance of the season. We play like that every week we'll do extremely well.

OK. Fair enough summer recruitment is an issue and given that we might have little or no transfer income though I can see one or two leaving for a fee it'll be interesting how we go about it.

Probably not...Personally, as you probably know, I think Adkins hands are tied somewhat this season and am looking forward to next year and the new squad ( hopefully)

I did hope that we'd win today and keep the slight chance of the play off's alive...but there you go.

The main point being, what with the recent statements on financing the club etc, how much do we reckon Adkins needs to get us out of this league?

The way things are going he's going to need to bring a lot of players in this summer...Jimbo reckons it'll take three transfer windows..I'm not sure the fans will stick any manager for three transfer windows if things don't improve drastically.
