On a forum where some real criticism is dished out, sometimes very nasty and personal, I'm surprised some are so sensitive about supporters being self-critical.

Although that's not what happens is it?

Self critical would mean being critical of ones self, the people on here are quite clear it's other fans that aren't doing it right and they should be more like them.
Now that doesn't bother me in the slightest BUT the idea keeps getting floated that we are worse than other clubs and that is pure bullshit and makes me quite annoyed.

How big are you Revolution? I'm 5'9" and do get more emotional these days I have to say, usually about positive things though.

If they were ever to meet Bergs would develop a serious Man-Crush.

To a degree I understand but I don't see any problem in criticising our support collectively as a supporter. I'm more than happy

FWIW I do think the crowd is very quick to flip at SUFC and I don't think it does us any favours. I think most are just worn down by L1, but I hope if we did get up people wouldn't continue in this vein.

I think you could change 'a lot' to 'every single successful manager.'

I'm a big man, though not very tall and I can be very emotional. I would not say something in the Kop about a player that I would not say to his face. Same rule applies on the Forum. I've told the same to HMB Jnr and we both know if we make the comment, the other can expect an explanation based on evidence.

It does make for some very long conversations on the way down the M1 though, the first bit ok though when we look for the evidence to back up the contributors on PorG

Not sure many players respond to crowd abuse though.It has to be the most unsupportive thing a fan can do, like totally counter-productive.

I bet they would.. unless it affects their considerable pay packet.

Said it before, they wouldn't be so precious if they were playing non-league and had to walk right past the paying supporter on their way to the changing rooms.

Being self-critical would be critising oneself... do you mean why are some so sensitive about supporters being critical of the team?

I remember reading somewhere else that Keith Kettleborough preferred playing in away games because of the stick he usually gets from the crowd playing in home games.

I remember standing on the terrace as a child with my dad and there was this bloke (always stood behind us, always stunk of beer) who always shouted at KK - "thar't abart as much bleedin use as a chocolate teapot Kettleborough" before a ball was kicked - the language may be a bit more purple now but there's always been a few whose seeming sole purpose in attending was to barrack a particular player or the team in general save for a couple of revered players who were untouchable. It doesn't happen so much when we are underdogs, rather more often when we frustrate, disappoint and fail to meet the fans expectations of the club (not the players).
