We all know the story. Some of us were even there! It's the Sex Pistols at the Black Swan of Sheffield United matches, when Adrian Heath's team took on Port Vale.

In the midst of a dire season, United actually took the lead against Vale but the visitors came from behind to take the points. The moment everyone remembers though is a cross from Rob Kozluk which, from under no pressure, came closer to troubling the roof of the Kop than the Vale 'keeper.

Full disclosure, I don't know for certain that I was at the match (I was 11) though I probably was. What I do know, from reliable witnesses, is that the reaction to Kozluk's cross was an explosion of angry contempt the likes of which has not been heard at the Lane before or since.

My question is this: given the disappointing season so far, the apparently dismal performance mid week and the subsequent turmoil at the club, if we find ourselves in a similar situation this afternoon are we likely to hear a similar reaction, against the same opponents? We seem to be approaching a perfect storm of fan anger at the moment so a bad performance could really set things off.

Obviously I'm rather hoping for a 4-0 rendering all of this irrelevant.

I once did the similar whilst playing at Maltby Miners Welfare...never seen such a bunch of old men so riled...well, apart from on here and at BDTBL of course .. ;)

Trouble is, Kozzy was actually attempting to do something when he precipitated that moment. It's a lot more difficult to find a moment of pure angst wth this team, as they're mostly hiding, retreating or playing it safe. Our best bet is when Vale waltz through unopposed to score their fourth.

I reckon things might get propa nawty this afternoon.

Heath's team on paper was a lot better than this sack of shit. Admittedly there were a few players of notable shite. Axel Smeets, The other Belgian defender, Aiden Davidson and John O'Connor or whatever his name was. Highlight of his time was seeing Petr Katchuro score against Charlton before never being seen again.

I was there too.

Today's will probably be when an old man called Brown (almost 40) breezes past 2 or 3 players and blasts a low shot past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner...

One thing, I doubt Adkins will be quietly sobbing in his office before this game as Heath was apparently before Port Vale.

I was there, it was a fun night.

The anger is reaching a crescendo and the directorship would be wise to note lessons of the past when the fans revolt as a single entity, it takes a monumental effort to have them believe in what you're trying to do.

I'll always hate Mike McDonald and his Texas buddies more than McCabe. I think it's due to the fact he loved Citeh and I was always convinced it was him who made Willie Donachie fuck off to Maine Rd
