The new players

Brereton aside, I'd summarise them generally as decent players, wrong choices

And even Brereton was signed too late and is consequently unfit

But Wilder got pretty much everything he wanted. So to then turn out such dross today is a terrible reflection

I think the problem is just that he’s throwing too many of them in together too quickly hence we looked very disjointed in our play.

The improvement was obvious when Peck, Rack Sakyi and Brewster came on. Big ask to expect 4/5 players to walk into the team mid season and hit the ground running.

Having played games together so much more than just training. Takes time. If Hamza and Vinny are to play together it'll take gametime not just training. Short of time there imo

What I’m seeing with Hamza is that he spends too much time sitting in the back line to receive the ball. That then reduces our options through the transition and the opposition push up on to us . We then start pissing about across the back line and then back to Cooper. Rinse and repeat.

Don’t want to do him a disservice as he might be under orders, but with both and Souza in defensive roles we look limited going forward or at least we did today

Our success this season is teamwork, the 4 new players disrupted by starting . They should only be off the bench until they understand our system.
The other 21 squad members need to understand the game of the newbies, it's not just the fitness of the new players.

New players MY OPINION: Clarke no better than Alfy, The need to fit BBD, Cannon & top scorer Campbell has a) made us look more like a Neil Warnock side. b) sacrificed the hardest working player I've ever seen, a player who is always an outlet, for a very 1 dimensional & static front 3.
Leicester & Watford's fan comments on Choudry on this forum were the worst I'd ever seen. I had to stop reading they were so bad. Hal's Leicester fan guest on the Sheffield United Way had a similar opinion of Choudry & was glad to see him gone. I know it's early but I',m not enthused!!! Choudry is playing in Vinnie's position and look how that ended last season when Norwood pushed Vinnie out!! Vinnie ends up playing the Sidi Peck's & Peck is the best person in that role.
We needed new players but not at the cost of those that got us where we are.

It was a miracle how we started the season with a new side. Expecting to repeat that miracle twice in one season , as rare as finding a Watford/Leicester fan with a good word to say about our 'marquee' January window signing.

Actually played two or three passes forward through the lines today, thought he was looking round at times thinking where the f*** is everyone?

Vini looks off it which is understandable given injury/time out.

From an attacking perspecitve, we look our best when we have Hamer & O'Hare on the pitch together.
O'Hare doesn't look as good when started out wide, nor Hamer.
Campbell is our best CF.

Work backwards from that and you get to an attacking shape. It's not brilliant, but it's what we have...

Put Hamer next to Choudhury / Souza in the base of midfield. He will advance the ball through the middle of the park and link between lines.
Pick O'Hare at 10. Let him press teams into mistakes in dangerous areas.
Pick Campbell at CF. He'll get you up the pitch by running in behind.

The two wide players are probably BBD (LW), JRS (RW).

..........Hamer - Souza
...JRS.......O'Hare......BBD.
..............Campbell

I hope Wilder isn't too stubborn about Cannon because he's paid big money for him. He's 22.
He doesn't have to be ready to go right now, we have time on our side with him and he'll get plenty of minutes from the bench and in rotation. He's a talent, but we don't have time to bed him in.

My first impressions of Tom Cannon are, he's not a team player, doesn't get around the pitch with any urgency, therefore not a fit for our specific team, at this moment.

Rob Holding...
I hope he doesn't continue to do dodgy passbacks to the keeper. We already have Robinson for that entertainment.

Was a poor back pass, thankfully Cooper reacted just as quickly as Holding hit it.

Was just after Holding came on, one of our midfielders played an even dodgier back pass to Holding when Colby Bishop was less than ten feet away from him, he ended up having to punt it forwards without taking a proper touch.

Reckon that 10-15 minute spell might mean that he starts against Middlesbrough, just gradually introduced him to the game rather than throwing him in from the start.

Agree we were saying at half time we hoped CW would recognise the formation wasn't working ( not sure if 433 or 442) and revert to 4-2-3- 1 with COH on. He didn't although he made reference post match he would have liked to have brought him on. COH can be inconsistent but when he drops deep he provides the outball for the DM's, no one was doing that today hence us being penned on the edge of our penalty area when in possession. Both he and Hamer are better players when they start together. COH also gets us up the pitch quicker with his ability to turn and drive at the opposition defence, sadly lacking today.

CW said post match he was unhappy with the performance all the back 4 but part of that was due to how the front six set up imo. Clarke had a poor game but as usual our RB had no protection in front of him for large periods in the the game giving Murphy an open invite to drive down the flank unchallenged.

Definitely need to go back intime abit for the starting line-up. Ideally Moore and Davies in the starting 11 when they get back.

mistake to try and get all the new players in the team so quickly. O'Hare has to be in the team if Hamer is available. They know each others' game. Peck looks a much better option at the moment than Choudury
