Shoreham Street - Til Death Us Do Part
Been reading in the paper about L**ds plans to buy back Elland Road. Apparently the new owners see it as in the best interests of the club.
To draw comparisons they did effectively very similar to what we did as you all know. They ended up in League One and were in financial trouble therefore offloaded the stadium and leased it back in order to stave administration the only difference is that we haven't done this for the same reasons??? Apparently McCabe saw it as a sound business move as any potential investors would be able to invest directly into the football team itself rather than any operating costs eg academy & stadium.
So who does benefit really in our arrangement? And this is an honest question because I honestly don't know the ins and out's and in my opinion Bramall Lane belongs to Sheffield United Football Club and shouldn't be under the sole ownership of Kevin McCabe as his PLC's.
The new owners in a nutshell say the same thing, that it can only be in the best interests of a football club to own it's own stadium. The stadium itself can be used to generate income for the football club on all levels.
Which leads me to another question......
It seems that as part of taking Elland Road back to Leeds United football club it seems the investment deal behind it might lead to a renaming / rebranding of the stadium. Therefore it begs the simple question....Are we happy for Bramall Lane to be owned by Kevin McCabe and his PLC's (if that is the case) in order for the ground to keep it's traditional name? Would you be happy for it to be returned to the possession of the Football Club if it meant losing The Name belonging to the Oldest professional football ground in the world. It would be nothing short of lunacy and a mockery in my opinion to see our beloved Bramall Lane lose it's name to some energy drink or something.
So who is right in all of the above?

So who is right in all of the above?
- Is McCabe right and is it in the best interests of the club to seperate the assets from the Football Club itself in order for all incoming investment to go directly to the team?
- Was the whole move simply a safe guard in order for McCabe to protect his long term investments into the football club and ensure he gets something back?
- Are the Leeds United owners acting solely in the interests of the football club or are they simply looking to rebrand the stadium and sell it's history in order to create another revenue stream?
