It has had a steady decline since they first starting ale at the start of the 2007/08 season.

Yesterday i went down 5 minutes before half time to get my half time pint, and there was one queue for beer, an empty counter for the prepaid vouchers, and 7 or 8 muppets who didn't have a clue what was going off. There must have been 50 part poured pints on the beer pump, yet when i came to buy my pint, there was a gormless article who was tipping the beer from one glass to another to fill them up. LS26BLADE who went down a couple of minutes after me had to wait the entire half-time to get his beer.

This isn't just a whinge about the catering, but i think the club could do it a lot better. Compass aren't delivering in terms of customer service, or providing anything near the level of the standard of catering that they could do. The refreshment stalls are a potential gold mine, if they are properly managed, yet the range of food and drink is limited, the standard of service is appalling and this is the same in all sections of the ground.

They're useless. Took me 10 minutes to get a cup of tea (which was cold) at the Huddersfield game and there were 5 people at most in front of me in the queue with 2 people serving.

I've suggested on numerous occasions that the obvious solution is that people be allowed to bring their own beer into the stadium. This would surely be a popular measure among fans. However, the club don't seem to be listening as usual.

Nice idea, but given our Draconian regime won't even let us bring our own distress flares in, what chance have we with tasty beverages?

I have no doubt they pay minimum wage, peanuts, monkeys etc. Same with stewards. Everything is done on the cheap at football. Except the players.

they are completely thick the lot of them which is why they do that job. something needs to be done, same every week

Yep... because they obviously just work for 4 hours every week for minimum wage without doing anything else

Linz = who worked in various hospitality roles while at University and who got fed up of being treated like she was thick,

I'd appreciate you not telling me what I do and do not know. I'd also appreciate you not accusing my brother of being "completely thick" considering he works at the Lane alongside full time education.

Fancy back peddling any more or shall we just agree to disagree?

I now think the catering is fantastic and will no longer be slagging the voucher system :)

I've got no problem with constructive criticism regarding the catering, but I'm not going to go to the head of Compass and tell him his staff are "completely thick".

Apropos of nothing... anyone got the link to the HTFC World match review? :D

It's OK, I speak Corporate. Tell him his staff are completely 'disengaged'.

does he work on the kop catering ? if so then yes he is iam afraid..if he doesnt work on the kop then i wouldnt know as only sit on the kop.how hard can it be ? getting simple orders wrong, forgetting 1 of the 2 items i order.wrong change given on numerous occasions, failure to give a head on my pint which is a legal requirement. if somebody cannot manage these simple things then yes, they are thick and/or very poor at their job. maybe you should watch them in action at half time and see for yourself.i worked in catering for 7 years so i can say they evidently need more training to perform the most simple of jobs.

well i tell it how i see, the club should get rid of compass completely and directly employ people, train them to a higher standard, give more choice and higher quality products instead of giving out a catering contract to some average company because the club wanted the cash and its the easier option

I sit on the Kop and give regular updates to the Manager of Compass at SUFC.

myself and a couple of others do mystery shops fairly regularly and did pull him on the lack of the voucher system at the preseason matches and the fact that only half the kiosks were actually open.

The Brizzle game and the Cup game all kiosks were open, I checked and the queues were minimal considering the decent crowds.

We are still working on getting the ghost busters back and expanding the range to cater more for young kids. But these are a work in progress. The level of service always starts slow but does get better over the season.

If anyone has any probs, you'll find me on the John Street side of the kop at the bottom of the steps (GUZZ 42 on my back) Feel free to approach us and tell me the grievance, I'll try and sort it there and then, if I can't I'll email the Compass Manager

Think you've just blown your mystery shopper cover there...

Went down at half time for the Walsall match. I don't normally get anything but as I was going out straight after I needed something to line my stomach. I waited until the half had finished and then walked beneath the JSS where the queue now stretched to the far wall. After probably over twenty minutes( I missed five to ten minutes of the match). I got to the front to find there was nothing left apart from chips which people were ordering and then having to wait to be cooked. I'd had enough and walked off livid as I'd missed the KO off the second half . I was well pissed off and wondered
  • Why did they run out of food
  • Why do they take so long to serve food
  • If they run out could they let the people at the back know so they can go and watch the match
  • Do they not want customers money, I spent mine at full time on a burger van
  • From reading above this seems to happen regularly , why haven't they acted on it.

I noticed just after half time at the Walsall match that there were big queues at the bar but no one at the voucher window

Why is the beer Greene King? IPA is crap.

I think we should have beer from a local brewery.

On another note, does anybody remember that beer dispensing machine which filled glasses from the bottom and was super quick? I am sure I heard tell of that clever invention on here.
