Points dropped from winning positions has left us where we are. Millwall yesterday, Rotherham away, Villa away, Stoke at home... all late goals and 8 points dropped from winning positions (any more???)

We’re looking at a ‘what might have been’ scenario (again). Is it concentration? Stamina to last? Yesterday the players looked hammered. They allowed themselves to drop deep and retain the ball inside our own half. Headers were up in the air rather than cleared yards. They seemingly couldn’t get out. Again, are we trying to close shop too early or is it something else??

I'd say that managing two 0-0 draws against the Pigs is pretty poor but we were never in a winning position.

Nerves, innit.

It was a set piece against Stoke that was understandable.

A terrible performance at Rotherham and a 8 minute melt down at Villa.

But yesterday was all about stamina. Most of the side looked knackered after an hour. I don’t know what can be done about that in the space of 6 days.

There was a Sky stat last night that said in the last 10 minutes of games, we have dropped 12 points, so you’re missing 4 :) Leeds have dropped none. That’s a really shocking statistic and quite telling.

I find that hard to believe, all the players wear those fancy vests, and we’ve people at the club with laptops and stuff, infact the young blond haired lad is a specialist in the field and there’s plenty on here that assure me that we monitor that kind of thing and act accordingly. I won’t have it that we’ve run the first 11 into the ground, when we had a squad to rotate.

I guess that least season it was Jan/Feb we looked knackered, now it’s April so that’s a positive.... :(

Sorry but its not something that is new. This has been the case for the past two seasons. teams come here to BDTBL and know if they drop off as soon as we get the ball we dont know how to beat them. By slowing the ball down as we do, it allows them to do this and then with at least 3 in our half playing the ball to each other they have time to get their 10 back and onto each player. By then the 2 attackers have got 1 maybe 2 defenders on them, and others such as Fleck and Duffy have the same, our creativity gone. We look really dangerous when we move the ball quicker, speaks for itself.

I was thinking this mate, I know exactly how you feel. As it stands any one of those results would be enough at the moment, let alone more than one of them, to take us back to 2nd. Then there's the other performances: battering Forest first time round, with little to show for it, battering the Pigs first time out.

It's hard to take. But all the more reason why I say we need to lose this cageyness - if that's even a word. Get on the front foot, attack teams.

Leeds at home, Bristol city at home, Swansea at home, Bristol city away (all from drawing positions).

Wilder needs to get a grip and let the players express themselves, that’s what got us into this great position in the first place. I can’t remember their keeper having to pull a meaningful save off yesterday? Every time we drop off or play to contain a side we don’t do it well at all and look completely shite, I’m sick of saying it now. We’ve looked knackered since that ‘warm weather training exercise’ in Spain, maybe they shouldn’t have played golf as much and concentrated on keeping their fitness levels up instead. We’re making it hard for ourselves when it really shouldn’t have been.

Just these last 4 games we’ve taken the lead in all 4 (twice against Bristol city) and yet only won one.

Similar happened last season where we petered out, usually taking the lead and ending up drawing games which were there for the taking.

And yet Leeds have won every game this season they have taken the lead in. Fine margins.

It's the same every season at this time of the year, looking back at the points we dropped and the games we should have won

Just imagine if Egan and Hendo had not cocked up against Weeds;).
2 points off their total and 1 point on ours, how does the table look?

That's the one that hurts most mate.
Avoidable and genuinely damaging.
I console myself with the fact that we kinda nicked a couple of points at their place.
Debatable I know, but it helps me cope :)

If McGoldrick had scored his sitter against Leeds, it would have been a six point swing in our favour, not just three.

If we’re in the business of listing avoidable regrets that cost us points, I’ll go with starting the first two games of the season with Evans and Lundstram in midfield, with Duffy and Sharp sat on the bench.
