Forgive me if this has been covered a million times before but today I watched a regular Wednesday YouTuber praising them for selling their allocation for Derby and stating how fantastic their fan base is.I commented that they haven’t got the exclusivity on selling out away ends and that there’s plenty of clubs that ,in there situation would do the same.My comment promptly got removed.
Can someone explain to me why they feel that they’ve got to keep telling everyone how fantastic they are. It’s like a propaganda machine.

Because it is a propaganda machine.
By them.

Look honestly they can turn out in numbers when the wind blows. Their away support does tend to do well numbers wise.

But it's all part of the machine. And they whip themselves up into a frenzy at times and get "fans" who attend once every 10 years to big games or days out.

The truth of it is that they are a big club. Like many other clubs though. They are not belonging to the elite of English football neither have they been in the past 70 years or whatever.

They had a good 5 seasons where they won the league cup and got the fa cup final. And finished well in the Premiership. But this has spiked a perception that they are massive. Some from outside their club.

They won't view Leicester in the same vein. Yet they much more recently won the PL, were in champions League and won the fa cup.

They can and will end up a good club again. With time and investment (depending on future owners pockets). But their real reality is they are a club that has fallen. But they have no god given right to be higher. In fact their right, at the minute is to be heading for league one.
And on top of all this they are under developed in their facilities across the stadium, training and academy.

They are big job for any new owner.
Potential yep.
Potential risk for an investor? I'd say yes too.

Deluded & desparate fans hoping to get more than 25p in the pound to stop them collecting a 15 point deduction at the start of next season in Div1

Was reading Guy Branstons article the FLW the other day. He had an article about Weds cheating the system, over paying for mediocre players, an owner who could only see potential PL treasure money etc etc. Said as a club they deserved everything they are getting. I was blown away that someone outside Sheffield had finally seen through the smoke and was seeing it as it is.... then came the WTF moment, as Guy Goo then went on to say that as a club the Wedneaday are "Massive" (@ SWFC) and their support "out of this world". Really? And what my little Branston Pickle makes you think this is so? Pray, do tell? Or are you just brain washed like the other suckers who just believe the hype. Fucks sake, do your homework and look at facts. What is it (and Guy didnt come back to me on this Q) that makea them so "Massive" (apart from their fan base being Massive Bellends). It really is a modern day version of the 'Emperor's New Clothes' where they all insist they can see things that arent really there (so that they dont think they will look daft to others who are just as full of shit but pretend they can see it also). ENC FC should be their name.

Bit like the BBC innit. Woops...

In their entire history , Wednesday have only averaged over 30 k crowds in 10 seasons

blades are miles behind with 9 seasons

pales in significance to man utd every season getting over 60k since the prem started 33 years on the trot, up to 72k now

Thank goodness for a sensible response to threads that relate to Wednesday. You are spot on.

Completely agree but I’ve seen that many similar comments and articles regarding their support I wanted a different take on it as I don’t know any other fan base that constantly bangs the drum.

It's all they've got to cling on to other than boxing day
It actually is all they've got left.

If you've noticed, it's no longer how good they are supported, the narrative is now how many they take to "away games".

Their "flex" as the kids put it these days has diminished massively over the years.

Did you know they won a cup in the 1990s?

Most of my mates are Wednesday fans never mention the cup win , more interested in how many they take away and how well liked they are amongst other fans , weird set of fans

It's called attendancitis.
It is the barometer by which the deluded measure massiveness.
It's trying to justify the 'bigger' part within their 'Bigger, older, better' bollocks.
At the moment they have fuck all else to crow about.
A Wendy mate of mine keeps banging on about some of their history - Micky Mouse Cup, Boxing Day etc. He shuts the fuck up when my historical musings go on about match fixing

Oh yeah that's a thing as well.

"I was on holiday in [insert country] and this guy noticed my Wednesday shirt... He'd never heard of United"

They never tell you about the ones like I unfortunately know. 1 set, full family of 4 ST holders that gave up their away tickets to BDTBL because ‘they are not playing very well’ or the family of 3, also ST holders, that are ‘die hard’ grunters. They don’t bother going to midweek home games because ‘it’s not very good’. They have the best fans in the world, apparently.

United are the ones with outstanding support. Crippled from the late 70s to the late 90s with a dump of a ground, no prospects and a series of crooks and dodgy owners as Chairmen that make Chansiri look like a blessing. No Cup finals since the 1930s, no regular competitive top flight football since the 1970s, no FA Cup Semi Final and Euro and World Cup stadium grants modernising our stadium and yet comfortably outstripping the pigs for support despite all the damage done to our club and fan base. I should've added six consecutive years in the third only a few years ago.

There must be many football supporters under the age of say 35 who cannot understand the hype surrounding them.

They haven't done anything significant for well over 25+ years.

Their internal PR machine within the fan base has to be admired but for the life of me I cannot believe we come from the same city.

It has been proven that the wendy fans have nowt to talk about on the pitch.
They are deluded and talk about themselves.

They could average under 10,000 fans every season for the next 15 years, and i swear we would still have some lazy journalist or ex footballer telling us that they are "Massive".

Collectively they are like the spotty little dickhead who tries to hang around with you and the lads when you are young, and wants to keep telling you all that he has a massive dick and is loved by all the ladies, but then wont get in the after match showers 'cos hes got a veruca'. Basically, they are full of shit.

I've noticed so called third party publications praising them and in the aftermath of our latest victory over them, still claiming they are a bigger club. I can only assume the people that write for those publications are themselves pig fans.

I've got mates who are pig fans and they are generally level headed and have humility, however this is not the case with the majority and they are generally as thick as mince.
