As we all know Davie Weir graduated under David Moyes, a gaffer who is renowned throughout the country by professionals within the sport as technically and tactically one of the best managers in the modern game, which ultimately is why Ferguson liked him so much and referred him to the Man United hot seat.

Moyes guided Everton into Europe with his shrewd signings on limited resources. His everton side were always guaranteed to be in or around the european spaces and they often gave the big guns a run for their money.

So where is Davey Bhoy going wrong? He picked up his trade from supposedly one of the best. Different leagues allbeit the fact remains the same that Weir came into a club with limited resources however this has since changed but never the less similar rules apply.

Is Moyes as good as they all say?

Is Weir utilizing some of the stuff that he learnt under Moyes?

Is the Moyes style of play unsuitable for a league such as league one?

Is Weir trying to break away and develop his own style of play different to that of Moyes?

Is the fact that Weir graduated under the guidance of Moyes irrelevant to his current position?

Yes

Not enough

No - PNE didn't get promoted by playing one striker

Seemingly.

At the end of the day, it's life and the beauty of it is that you can't put it into a formula and get the answer, it decides for itself. I've trained under various people, they moved on/sidewards/up/down, as did I. I had my own thoughts, so did they. I trained and specialised in certain ways, they did other things. I'm not sure the link between DW and Moyes means anything deep really. Alan Irvine was Moyes' assistant manager too, look how he turned out for Wednesday. He was rubbish too by all accounts, now he's at Man Utd!

DW is an apprentice, this is still his first job as a manager. It will define him as either a) a good manager, or b) no-manager, but probably c) average, does the rounds a la Danny Wilson or any League 1/2 manager out there right now.

I should imagine Mr Weir is a good prospect on paper, and it's been said one of the reasons HRH came on board, so he can talk the talk.
But, he's not walking the walk, and although I know there's a lot of luck in this game, he'll struggle to get a better chance of success than he's had here....
