Maybe the much-used 'the first goal is so important' statement has done more damage than good....unless it's us that score it!
I remember when we used to keep going to the end, whether searching for a winner, an equaliser, or making the score more respectable.
Van Dijk's comment seems to sum up where football is at at the moment, and I'm fed up of extraordinarily well paid sports people tossing it off.
