A chance to close the play-off gap down to 5pts! I'd start Phillips but if he's looking too rusty could take him off at half time.

-----------------Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Bindon Burrows
Brooks Peck Phillips Hamer
-----‐----- Cannon O'Hare

I'd guess that Phillips isn't quite ready to be thrown in to start against second top just yet, so it'll be Peck and either Rothwell or Blaster to start

At the most one change and I think that might be Rothwell in for Blaster.
Sensible thing would to start Blaster and give him at least 45-60 mins, then introduce Rothwell to settle into the game when its calmed down. But i think he's experienced enough to also be able to slot right in

Yep i think both Rothwell and Phillips will see time on the pitch. Their midfield is very good and we are going to need a lot of legs in there over the 100 minutes

I’m not sure Rothwell has the hard tackling or the mobility we might need tonight in the middle. If he’s match fit—it’s been suggested he isn’t—big Kalv would be a better bet, I think.

If I had a spare few bob, I’d stick it on neither of them starting.

Neither to start, Rothwell to come in for Blaster second half, Phillips if we're in a tight game to preserve the lead, Rothwell to replace Hamer or O'Hare later in the game if Phillips gets on for Blaster.

I doubt either Rothwell or Phillips would start.

I'd be expecting:

Cooper,
Seriki, Tanganga, Bindon, Burrows
Brooks, Peck, Arblaster (Or Soumare), Hamer
O'Hare
Cannon (Or Bamford if we are overplaying his injury)

I think our main issue is the two we've brought in are far off match fitness.

Wilder said that neither Philips or Rothwell were ready to ‘hit the ground running’ neither of them have played much football this season.

Can see us being pretty much unchanged from the Oxford game but with Philips and Rothwell both getting some minutes in the second half.

Unless Bamford has recovered in time. Then I’d chuck him straight back in.

Probably won't happen, but I'd start Soumare for Arblaster. Arblaster and Peck haven't looked good together and Soumare would add more athleticism and physicality to the midfield.
Can't see him starting Soumare ever again unless lack of bodies requires it. He is more physical I agree, but he's also more likely to misplace a pass that allows the opposition in and/or poleax an opponent with his first touch. I enjoy watching him because he's funny and I can see him developing into a decent midfielder in the future - but I only really want to see him when we're winning comfortably

I've said on another thread, I have a suspicion he might be involved tonight
It's a bruised ankle - unless the swelling/stiffness is preventing him running , surely there's a protective dressing that can be applied to see him through any "professional" fouls (assaults) to his injury by Boro

Soumaré is the only viable starter in CM with Peck

I don't want to say "miles off it" and Arblaster in the same sentence again but he is miles off it, and Boro's CM 2 are very mobile and energetic so it suits Soumaré more

Would be nice if Phillips or Rothwell could be relied on fitness wise but obviously we had to sign them at the very last minute didn't we

I'd start Campbell as I still think he has more to offer in a game like this than Cannon and he'll 100% be wanting to play himself into the starting 11 v Wednesday

Peck and blaster nailed on

My fear is starting Peck and Blaster could see us over-run in midfield. For me it's got to be Peck and one of Soumare, Rothwell or, (unlikely) Phillips.

Other than that, unchanged from Oxford, only slight caveat would be if Bamford is fit or Campbell for Cannon if he's shown enough in training...

I'm judging based on my Rangers buddy who watched Rothwell play :-)
Rothwell written off by many before he's even kicked a ball. He may turn out to be shite, but there were many that thought that Bamford would be a waste of money.

Let's give him a chance, if he's shite then he doesn't play. Simples!
