If the new Prince of Bramall Lane has just bought into the Football Club and not the property/land, what is to stop him moving the "club" to another City as they do here?

Why would he do that? Which other city could he move it to where theyd get more support? In London, Manchester or Birmingham theyd struggle to get 3,000 gates.

I think you´ll find that teams in North-America moves because they find a bigger/better place that doesn´t have a club playing there.. Sheffield is a rather big city with underperforming teams so using the franchise logic it might be a better idea to move a team like Swansea to Sheffield instead ;)

Or like Wimbledon to Milton Keynes?

:(

Yeah exactly. You move a club to a bigger city, not to a smaller one. Theres nowhere in england where the club could get more support than here. If you moved a club to a city that already has big clubs, nobody would be interested in the new club. The only remote possibility would be to move to glasgow and call the new club Rangers, so they can play over here. Can't see the football league taking a very positive view to that one somehow.

The long discussed merger thing is a non-starter, i think everybody has realised by now that nobody would actually go to watch them. Theres just no appetite for it in the city. Be lucky to get gates of 10,000 even if both the other clubs restarted in the non-league theyd get more support than the new club.

well everybody in sheffield knows that... however take two foreign owners and....

i see your point. im not really that bothered if there was a merger though to be honest. we would start again with our own club, which may actually be a good thing. if wimbledon, newport and chester can come back from the dead, im sure we would have no trouble doing it.
