Swindon want Speed

Swindon have asked Sheffield United for permission to speak to Gary Speed about their vacant manager's job.

The former Wales midfielder, 39, has coaching qualifications and would like to break into management.

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling said on Friday that he had not been approached.

On one hand its a chance to try himself out in management but will it be the right job for him.

If i was him i would spend some more time at the Lane learning the ropes gradually getting the knowledge required give himself a better chance of cutting it when it comes down to doing it all himself.

I hope not as I think Speed is still important to us this season in some compacity.
