Is the line up for Sunday the most straightforward and easiest to predict we've had for a big game in a while;

Howard, Harris, Brayford, Maguire, Collins, Coady, Doyle, Scougall, Murphy, Flynn, Baxter.

Can any one envisage any changes to this?

Two possible changes I can see: Harris at left back (though I'd probably prefer Hill from a defensive point of view) and Porter up top, which could mean either Baxter on the bench or Baxter in midfield in place of Scougs.

I'm wondering why Ports wasn't in the squad last night if he is to be a sub on Sunday. I also think Nige may use Scougs to make a big impact against tiring legs late on.

I think I would go with your team, though.

I'm not a huge Porter critic, but it would be a mistake to play him from the start IMO. We need players who are comfortable on the ball and need to retain possession as much as possible. Porter wins a fair bit in the air but it bounces off him too much when he gets it played to feet.

Playing Baxter allows that nice shape where although he doesn't play as an out and out striker, he brings Coady, Scougs Flynn and Murphy into the attacking areas.

No, that will be it I think. Only one place left spare on the bench too I think as the subs will be:-

Long, Freeman, Hill, Davies, McGinn, Porter and xxx?

Surely xxx has to be a striker or winger who can come on and make an impact if we're losing?
So I would guess that Khan will get the nod ahead of Kennedy, Dimaio and Reed?

Tell him to bring his boots.

Hes our top scorer at in a final/ semi final over the past 20 odd years
Past 78 years in fact! We didnt score in the 1961 semis, Our scorers in the 1936 semi were Don Bird and Jack Pickering

After last night, don't be surprised by Clough pulling at least one rabbit out of the hat...

No i think you have that right, its cloughs favourite 11 usual subs and lets see what happens when was the last time we went to Wembley with nothing to lose?? Will we finally see that "GOAL".??

I'm not sure about that, Clough said his starting 11 had been decided for over a week now, so guessing all tactical work has been done with that in mind.

Like someone posted above one of the younger players, most likely Khan, might get a spot on the bench.

Only concern with the usual 'false 9' cup line up is lack of height against their giants.

As well as the strikers, Hull have Meiler, Huddlestone, Davies and Chester who are all big guys. May play Porter as much to counteract this threat at set plays as anything else, then change it up last 20/30 if behind.

Not saying I agree but it could well be done and would be logical.

My starting XI hunch would be Davies in for Flynn, making it - Howard, Brayford, Maguire, Collins, Harris (or Freeman?), Davies, Coady, Doyle, Scougall, Baxter.

I'm pretty sure it will be our usual starting 11 for Sunday. We don't have much choice seen as we are playing premier league opposition, we have to play our best 11 players to stand any chance of winning. I would take dimaio and Kahn for the bench and if we are chasing the game throw Kahn on as an impact sub just to add a bit of pace and the unknown factor. Either way its a big ask but we have seen stranger things happen before. I feel that we have given ourself every chance by resting our team and hopefully have a fully fit squad to choose from. All we can do is hope and pray the footballing gods are on our side Sunday. I can't wait. Up the blades!

Flynn will 100% start.

And we only playing with ten?!
See my reply to Silent :)

My history on here would show I am one of Flynny's biggest supporters, but its just a feeling I've had in my watter this past day or two, probably wrong as I know fuck all like most. I just thought Nigel might find a starting place for Davies to keep it solid and use his experience and dead ball expertise.

And its Flynn who could probably be sacrificed.

Don't want cloughy to fuck about with team selections for this match, remember Bassett leaving bradders out, the rest is history as they say.

Can see the pros of including Davies but the game suits flynn more (ie counter attacking). Given he was rested yesterday I think tells you everything.

The only surprise I think May be in regards to tactics, think we might fly out of the traps and take them by surprise.

Tbh I think Baxter will at best start on the bench. Didn't look interested again last night
