Could any of you knowledgeable Blades please tell me what year this match was played?

From memory - so could be totally wrong - I think we were 2-0 up at half time but went on to lose 3-2. It could also have been played on 16th or 17th December but I'm sure it was the 18th - my birthday you see, but I can't remember which one.... :D

Cheers.

Ahh cheers, much obliged. Am I right in thinking that we were 2-0 up at some stage?

It was 2-0 at half-time (Woodward, Guthrie).

A-ha, so my head's not in as bad a nick as I thought it might be, cheers HH.

It was the day that a young Jon Bon, on his 15th birthday and resplendent in beige 3/4 length Oxford Bags, shiny Doc Martins and a scarf tied on each wrist, was hauled into the back of a police van just off Charlotte Road, before the game, to have his name and address taken -'just in case' - because he 'looked like he might cause trouble'. Not a word of a lie, I kid you not. Was talking about it today but couldn't remember if it was my 13th, 14th or 15th birthday.

Jesus H Christ.

We have Guthrie raising his ugly head in the "most skillfull" thread and now my all time pet hate Longhorn comes limping into play.
This place is going to the dogs today.

It put my Friday on a total downer. I'd consigned that pile of turd to the deepest recess of memory, to be never talked about again. Then along comes a thread about the late 70s and HH goes and thoughtlessly lists the team and like a demented screaming banshee, 'Longhorn' brings all those horror shows howling back into my consciousness. Cheers HH

(Nobody, but nobody mention Tony Moore and Douggie Brown!)
