I'm obviously quite biased towards Utd having been supporting them for 47 years now, but I do try to remain in touch with reality and attempt to be level headed in my assessment of football related matters at the Lane.

Unfortunately, refereeing of our matches is causing me nightmares at the moment and has been so, particularly, over the last 3/4 seasons.

It seems to me that most teams get "a homer" from time to time, who will go with the home crowd as he's not a particularly strong ref. but the last "homer" I can remember at the Lane was against Exeter in the 4th Division !! We just do NOT get them and that is quite a coincidence.

I can recall, however, a multitude of inexplicable refereeing performances, whether we won, lost, or drew, and some decisions which, quite frankly, can only be explained by gross incompetence, stupidity, or cheating in some form.

It is a widely held belief among our supporters, and I am inclined to support this supposition, that the football club is being punished by the authorities at the FA for daring to drag their beloved West Ham through the courts to answer for their cheating during our Premiership relegation year. This would account for the avalanche of bad refereeing we have suffered recently.

Regardless of the reasons for the poor quality of referees we are burdened with, there must come a time when the Club need to take some sort of action to have this situation looked at. Even Gary Speed was on record as saying he had never in his career, known refereeing decisions go against a Club so consistently.

My suggestion would be for Utd to have the full recordings of every match assessed by an independent referee and send the recording, plus a transcript of the game highlighting the refereeing indescretions, to the FA and inform them, politely and very diplomatically of course, that we are wise to what is occurring. The results of this "survey" could also be released to Radio Sheffield Wednesday, the local papers and to the BBC and Sky Sports.

All we can ask for is to be treated equally with other clubs and I don't believe that is happening now.

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

mike reed couldve made history by sending off simon tracey 8 seconds into the first ever premier league game. brian deane went on to make history instead.

Just because we're paranoid......

There was a lengthy thread here the other day about the large number of dodgy decisions in our favour over the years. Just saying.

I think its probably down to the fact that the refereeing standard in this country is in the gutter. Listen to RS at the weekend; our fans, pigs, Rotherham, Donny, Baaarnsley, Chesterfield will all complain about the referee regardless of win lose or draw. I thought they were poor in the championship. At this level they are simply incompetent.
