Pray for the Carrier Bag Firm tomorrow. The U21s are away at Queens Park Rangers, Tuesday 30 August, 1pm. Of course, that's the afternoon of the Reading match at home. We're busting guts because the game is scheduled for Hanwell Town. Which will be an SUFC XI Ground Tick. And, then helicopter (or similar) back in time for the game at Bramall Lane.

Be an interesting one - both clubs have Championship games the same night. Need to dig deep into the squads.

Must admit given he joined post Academy he's the one player I'd not really had enough of a sustained look at. Looks more tall and rangy that what I thought.

I'm usually peering into a small phone screen when I watch the U21 games so hard to tell.

I've sat near him at a home game and he was far from tall:D

It’s a cracking ground - I lived locally a few years back so went to a non league game once. Friendly staff, cheap food and drink.

The local MP won the raffle, which resulted in a sound booing from the 100 or so people there. The tannoy announced a few minutes later he’d put the £100 or so behind the bar for the players.

Hanwell themselves have an interesting history, I think it was set up by a bunch of exiled Geordies, so they play in black and white and have a link up of sorts with Newcastle - think their U23s might have given them a game in pre season.

Thanks. I doubt it'll be like that today if CBF experience is anything to go by. Unlikely the Bar will be open & unlikely to be any food. Indeed, we're expecting the full...

"Will your name be on my list....?"

"Oh, a spectator are you, your son must be playing, let me check my list..."

I actually trekked out here once before, when British Airways FC were ground sharing. I got there to find absolutely no sign of life except for padlocks. CBF Occupational Hazards

Quite a few players from last seasons academy teams have not made an appearance yet this season. Freckleton, Peck, Smith, Gaxha and of course Lankshear. Hope they have not been poached as well, Smith and Peck both seem very promising. Also holding on to the very very slim hope that Lankshear stays.

I do wonder what we're doing with Broadbent. Joke of a loan to Belgium followed by a vaguely ok loan at Rochdale where he seemed to mostly warm the bench. 22 in September. Captain of the U-21s and his contract is up in summer, I believe?

Peck played in a pre-season friendly v Newcastle U21s.

Not much to find on the trialist Max Haygarth. He's 20 and left footed.

Looks tidy on the ball playing wide right in the first 70 seconds of these highlights:

I've tried to explain how I view the Broadbent thing on my just published Blog. Very, very much my own opinion about a player I like watching. Quick notes on the trialist. But, really the day was all about the logistics. With a 1pm kick off in West London and a 7:45pm kick off in Central Sheffield.
