They've had to piss around with the kick off time to accommodate the first team's plans ahead of Middlesbrough. You know, what with there being only half a usable pitch at Shirecliffe. No showers. A wonky exercise bike. No roof on one building & two on the other (wtf?). So the U18s kick off at Shirecliffe at 4pm v Millwall this afternoon, Saturday 13th. If you're in need of your SUFC football fix. Get up there...

Or, you know, you can keep posting "authoritatively" about Academy youngsters you've never seen play...

The Carrier Bag Firm are meeting for a drink in The Timbertop.

One year on. Everyone is a year older. #PopulationProjections

Nice afternoon out in the sun, taking some respite under the trees of Shirecliffe. Accidentally positioning myself next to Ball_Sup (Phil) and becoming his unofficial 3rd opinion on contentious signalling from the nearside lino.

Got told off at the end for fetching the ball for a Millwall lad in the last 30 seconds. Lesson learnt.

Good to have you with us Brother. To clarify, was worried about your health having to run down the hill for the ball. Thought you were spot on with the assessment he'd flagged for a foul. Kind of you not to mention my heavy touch on the ball after 40 seconds.

What did you make of it Wards ?
Very scrappy, nowt in it really. Hard to judge performance in that heat. Draw would've probably been a fair result overall.

No one really standing out from either team but admittedly it was the first time I'd seen some of these lads who've presumably moved up from the u16s. Liked the right full back, number 2, Jack Waldron - bit tetchy, not much more than an inch given, good going forward...like all that in a full back.

I do enjoy watching the u18s. Always get that feeling that it's going to bubble over at some point but too hot for that nonsense today. Can hopefully get to a few more if they don't clash with the first team.

I was trying to work out who you were Phil.

Great game for the lads especially in the heat.

I was at the top end at the start but did venture to the bottom. I was wearing my beloved Berge Utd top.

I will be going to as many u18 games as I can to watch my nephew and upcoming star Jack Waldron.

Next time I’ll try and say hello.

Saw that shirt (obvs).

Just lovely to hear from other varmints who attended the game. Some great insights. Me, I love a striker. A somewhat unusual theme at the pre match bar. All the goss....
