Today....
I was held outside the car park barrier at the lower gate. I was told I'd be allowed in to the complex at 1045. Unless I had a car, in which case I would be allowed to drive straight in. I offered to make Brrrrm Brrrrm noises & mimed a steering wheel. So, I waited outside the barrier. One other gentleman was waiting there. We struck up conversation. He was Granddad to a Utd player. A car pulled up - oh here's my son - he said. Mate, get in the fucker & you won't have to wait out here with me - I implored. Which he did. And the steward waved him & the car in. Obviously, I (and any other pedestrians) were being held for some shit I can't even imagine....

Look - I'm clumsily making a point that this is Sheffield United, this is Shirecliffe - no two attempts to gain entry will be met by the same set of rules. Shoot yer shot kid.....

Ha, so true. I got in through lockdown through reasons I won't divulge. Pre-lockdown my favorite route in was "are you a scout?" - "erm, yes" - "come in"

As I've posted before, some of the Carrier Bag Firm work as Scouts (Academy recruitment, etc). They can just flash a pass. I can just mince off for a pint & write a Blog about it. It is what it is....
