So who are we going to sign? Certainly need few decent strikers. Hopefully NC can get somebody on short-term loan, but in the summer who are going to get?

Callum Wilson? Going nowhere with Coventry, 21 years old, good potential & goalscoring record, lost his strike partner to Wolves.

Others?

Now we have Flynn, Murphy et al functioning like proper footballers it is about all we need for the rest of the season.

Clough will know who he wants and the good thing is he doesn't appear to settle for second best.

Billy Sharp, would suit the way we play one upfront. Sorry to recommend an ex player as I know a few don't like it! But he fits the bill if Doncaster can afford him we definitely can, he would score loads in League One.

You'll probably get some stick for this but I'm with you. The way we've played for the last few years, there's no way he'd have been a good fit but now, brilliant wing play, lots of balls in their box, he'd lap it up.

Not at all convinced that the one up role (which is how it would be) is suited to Sharp at all.
He played in that position for Doncaster first time he was there I think? And scored a lot of goals in the championship. Correct me if I am wrong on that one though, that was the reason behind my thinking.

Well rumour the fickle dog that it is, says mr clough watched donny on Saturday coincidence?
One up front might suit someone with size n ability to hold the ball up, our billy not sure, but I'd be more than willing to let him try, other strikers well I think we definitely could do with one before window shuts then see how things stand in the summer.
Of course ATM messi and ronaldo would struggle to get on the bench which of course they would both be content to do :)

I wonder if Jamie Murphy could do it. He's got all the attributes of a false 9. Intelligent movement, pace, skill, trickery and a decent finish. What do you think?

He is doing it. He and Baxter swap positions frequently during a game - especially towards the end of the match where Murph's pace pisses on oppo defenders (whooda thunk I'd be stating that 5-6 months ago :o)

at the moment we are not bad for front men, Baxter and Porter have done well in our revival of the leauge, its players like Miller - Paynter do we give them more chances or replace them, probably the latter.

Team spirit seems powerful at the moment don't think we need anyone in leave the striker for next season.

What happened to the young striker that Weir had on the bench a couple of times? He came from nowhere and disappeared just as quickly.

Harry Bunn? Was on loan from Man City, now on loan at Udders

Hmmmmm....

Its the old billy sharp chestnut again, personally i'd love him back to just have one last go at being a hero for his team, or maybee I'm being selfish...

Billys been tweeting about Sunday, he was on john street, and having beeing sorted for wembley allready, he's buzzing like us, we know he cares, and now, we play a style that suits him perfectly, worth a shot in my opinion....

Anybody else better in league1, or Championship??

Unless he's changed his mind very recently (which, there is a small chance he could have done since relocation), Billy Sharp wouldn't play in League One.

Only two things would lead to this scenario being remotely viable.

1. We get into the play offs and win the bloody thing

2. We start off in L1 again next season and are flying but Billy still can't get a game at a weekend for his parent club

Either way it would be a loan first.

Can't see it happening though. Not sure he would want the ball ache of failing to make it happen a third time

I went to watch Doncaster vs Huddersfield on Saturday. Billy did ok, scored a poacher goal, but didn't do a lot else. He played alongside Chris Brown, an old fashioned target man, who won man of the match and does a lot of donkey work that benefits Sharp. I think it's hard to say for sure how well Billy would fit into the current team. Cotterill did well by the way and also scored.

Last Friday I went to watch Bury vs Rochdale and wanted to have a look at Scott Hogan who is young and second top scorer in League Two. He went off with an injury before he had a kick though.

Has anyone seen him or Scunthorpe's Sam Winnall (19 goals, out of contract in the summer)?
