Is it shit stirring, though? It's a question that's been on the minds of fans for a long while and has been discussed ad nauseam on forums such as this and BladesMad. All The Stir can be accused of here is being remarkably lazy by pretty much just reposting two blogs and calling it a fan debate.

I don't know what to think anymore, to be honest. Not sure whether that's out of genuine confusion or a sense of apathy, but I'm in camp 'Que Sera Sera'. If he goes, I'll understand the reasons why and hope to sweet Christ we get it right the next time (although recent history isn't on our side in terms of managerial choices). If he stays, he's got a bloody hard job on his hands.

What annoys me is that the author comments on Bristol City and MKD as if he's watched them every week and then the inevitable comment 'we should play like them'. Open expansive football etc.

When the pork went up it was 'we should play like them' direct balls to big fuckers.

Every season, whoever goes up 'wahhh, we should be like them'.

It's facile.

Spot on. Sick and tired of it at moment.

To be fair, that's what they're relying on - football's finished for three months, journalists sat on their arses doing next to bugger all, what can we do to stir things up a bit?

No, we can't mess with our favourite team, I know, let's get the Clough angle warmed up a bit.

Typical crap journalism from a crap paper.

Even the "yes" article was full of negatives......the only positive and reason for retaining Clough was "stability"....

Shame theres a "Couldn't give two fooks" version.

Anybody else suffering from extreme Utd related ennui?
Very much so, particularly the constant posts highlighting Clough's flaws. There's no need to keep listing them, I have eyes and a brain. I'm not so fucking simple I need a daily reminder.

I'm pretty much the same. I'd prefer him to stay but it wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't.

We're between a rock and a hard place. None of us can predict the future and it could be Clough stays and fails, another year wasted or it could be Clough goes, his replacement fails, another season wasted. Or either get us promoted.

Not sure I can be bothered to read either link.

I'll summarise for you:

No - he's awful in every possible way.

Yes - he's awful in every possible way. But we've had a lot of managers in recent years so we should keep this one for longer.

Or, if you have even less time, the summary, summarised:

No

Its the blades way. Slag them off all you like 100% of the time then as soon as someone else slags us off, defend them 100%

Exactly my thoughts. When Clough says going from 7th to 5th wi a play off semi and cup semi's is progress, he's technically right. But it wasn't what we expected. The level of expectation and excitement at the start of last season was sky high, but promotion wasn't delivered and was never really looking like being delivered.

I'm fine with giving him another crack at the whip, but he knows his balls are on the chopping block. Fans have been on his back this season, but if he stays and they don't see dramatic improvements on the pitch, he ain't seen nothing yet...

Just read the Yes Nigel link... And it reads like I wrote it until the final paragraph!! was that supposed by someone in favour of him staying?

Haven't bothered to read the No Nigel link we all know what his problems are.

I reckon to have such an article is disrespectful to the manager and would not normally be done without an inkling that something is in the wind.

If that is the case it surprises me, but if Clough is still here next season how does the Stir expect to have a two-way working relationship after such a Shit Stir.

for me lets take out Hindsight

when Clough was installed following Weir's removal...

(bearing in mind what we were witnissing under Weir)

if he had said....

I will get you to 7th and a trip to wembley in the Semi of the FA CUP this season and next season I will get us to finish inside the play offs and a Semi Final of the League Cup. most fans would have snatched his hand off!

problem is he made a rod for his own back after a fantastic run in winning 10 games in a row.... fan expected to finish better than 1st.... (as if it was possible)

now we are all disappointed that it didnt occur, some of the issues are down to Clough, some are down to the Club, some are down to the players and some are down to the fans themselves! no-one is blameless! and until we all pull in the same direction we will struggle for consistancy!

We all want to pull in the same direction, but you have limitations being a fan, the club, directors and manager with always be the opposite force.

Just came across this post on a thread that started on 21st May.

The Clough sacking was announced on 25th May.

What date was that Board Meeting? Wheels within wheels?
