I'm actually a bit surprised looking at the names for the full squad that Wee Scougs and Murphy aren't in it. Compare their performances at Wembley to George Boyd's for example.

If the likes of Chris Burke can make the squad, I see no reason why Murph shouldn't be in there. Yes he's only playing in the third tier of English football but on recent form I think he deserves a place.

The only thing stopping Murphy getting into the full squad is the level he's playing at. If there is a Scottish left winger in better form than Murphy is right now I'd like to see him. Well done to Scougall though, few years time and Scotland will have a pretty talented squad capable of getting into tournaments.

Some might argue that League 1 is a slightly better level than the SPL! If Jordan Slew's plying his trade there they could have a point.

Murphy had the beating of premiership defenders on three occasions this season. At Motherwell he was rated one of their best players, he should be given his chance.

Congrats to Scougall though and Clough for finding us that hidden gem.

He has mentioned them both in the FA cup programs and was pleased with what he saw. personally I am quite happy they are not getting the attention a call up would produce. Murphy would be a massive loss to us and so hard to replace with the way he's been playing. If he's playing like that next season I think we will lose him no matter what length of contract he has.

True but I think they're more inclined to pick from their top division than England's third.

Which is strange given the number of players that see a move from their top division to England's third as being a step up. Wee Scougs and Murphy were hardly reserve players we signed. The only reason Hibs were half-in for Murphy was because he was at that time our reserve. Perhaps a different mentality from the SFA, not willing to concede this.

Remember that our players not being picked by their nation is better for us, as we don't get international breaks like Prem and Champ.

Probably a good thing in the sense that it might have made other teams more aware of his talent, resulting in him being more likely to leave the club. Really rate Murphy and can see a few teams coming in with offers for him anyway.
