How come you got around the 2 clubs in a year rule?

Because FIFA rules state that a player may be registered with three clubs, but only play for two of them.

1. Sunderland - registered but did not play this season.
2. Derby - on loan, registered and played.
3. Sheffield United - bought (we are LOADED!), registered and played.

Does that help you out?

The rule is you can only play for 2 clubs between July 1st and June 31st, he did play for Sunderland (and scored) plus Derby and now Sheff Utd.

hmmm cant seem to post a link but he has played for Sunderland this season.

A loan is not deemed to be a full registration. In other words he played for Derby but was still registered as a player with Sunderland. So he has only been registered as a player with two clubs Sunderland and the moneybags Blades :D

Loans do count. Liverpool want to sign Mascherano from West Ham, and can sign him either on loan or permanently, but as he has played for two clubs already this season - West Ham and Corinthians - he can't play for them. Liverpool are expected to appeal to UEFA or FIFA pleading that this is a special case, namely that they are Liverpool and therefore exempt from normal rules that govern these matters.
I was told that loans count by none other than Terry Robinson at a meeting of the Woodseats Supporter's Club, and I would hope he knows what he's talking about.

Well maybe he's been kidnapped by the football police... he didn't come down to breakfast this morning :)

My memory's not what it used to be, but didn't Forte play for 3 clubs in one season a couple of years back??
I thought we'd loaned him out early in the season, got him back and played him before loaning him out again before the window closed.

I could be wrong and probably am....
