The Stead deal to Ipswich has been made permanent.
Not sure if I'm happy about this, he didn't really get a run in the team consistently, but we do have enough fire power without him.

Ipswich Town have signed Sheffield United striker Jon Stead on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee after the player agreed personal terms.

The 25-year-old former England Under-21 international was initially signed on a three-month loan earlier this month.

Posted in the ex-players thread yesterday.

Good luck to him I say.

If he is not going to feature for us, it is better he is sold.

I would personally have liked to have played him, but if he isn't part of KB's plans, then it is good he is off the wage bill and we have some money in the bank.

I am sure that he will make KB regret selling him too, and go on for a fantastic season with a good footballing side.

Stead seemed to be one of the few players we had who liked to get the ball down and could play a bit. Seemed confident on the ball too.

Thought he looked good when he played out wide, capable of running at full-backs.

You never know, though what goes on behind the scenes, do you? He's never really settled anywhere, has he?

Good luck to him anyway and thanks for almost keeping us in the Prem.

Agree with the first bit- always looked a dangerous player

My mate who I was talking to also pointed out that Stead has had three managers at the lane and none have really fancied him as 1st choice striker- mind you he seemed to play in the premiership under Warnock
