I've read Keith's book and he had a tough time after finishing playing. His marriage broke up and he was basically out of a job for a while. TC suffered in a similar way. Tony Kenworthy famously did some time before getting his life back on track.

Players earn that much these days that it shouldn't be so much of a problem other than no longer being in the limelight. However I think gambling appears to be a big problem. I'm pretty sure the PFA run things to help players make that transition or certainly to at least plan what they're going to do after they finish playing.

Its amazing how many go broke as well as soon as the life dry's up they continue to live like the moneys rolling in and end up broke, same with American sport stars, ESPN 30 for 30 did a good Documentary on the American issues -

Pinchy, your insinuation is libellous.
I suggest that you either remove it or substantiate it.

You haven’t a clue. It’s a matter of public record. Do your research.
I have always been interested in what footballers do on the pitch, and have no interest in their private lives (except on the rare occasions where it affects on the pitch performance). Hence I am not interested in doing the research. Either say what you are referring to or keep it to yourself. I have been trying to work out which literary device you used, but can't identify it. I would welcome being enlightened on what the device was - or is that something else I will have to research for myself?

Thing is though mate people are more than happy to discuss off the field issues of other ex players who weren't popular.

Why then, raise the question of courage, when it’s wholly irrelevant?

The Edwards article is about sport (football and golf), and has interesting things to say about the mentality of professional footballers. Your comment appears to be designed to cast aspersions of a personal nature at a Blades legend, and you do not even do us the courtesy of explaining what you refer to. If you have knowledge that the rest of us do not have, then share it with us in a spirit of generosity, rather than smugly dropping hints that leave an unpleasant taste. And you still have not explained to me what your literary device was. This forum is for Blades fans to share facts and opinions, and I would ask you to share your knowledge with us.

It’s sub judice. I’m expecting a high court writ. Bertie says so...

Edwards was an expert finisher.
A joy to see when one on one with a keeper.
He was a real highlight of the Blades in the 80s.

And when I have met him (him hosting on a match day) he is good company.

That's the first time I ever came across the name of a literary device being sub judice... Do tell me what it was, I am sure nobody will sue.
