Jordan Stewart on the right wing with Little and Reid sat getting splinters in their arse on the bench. What next? Evans in goal? Bennett up front??

I'm getting bored listening to Blackwell moaning about having players out. He needs the injured players back as the players that are in there at the moment aren't up to it. Which is fair enough, but hasn't Blackwell signed most of them? So he is more or less admitting the majority of his signings aren't good enough. The mind boggles what a decent manager could have done with the money Blackwell has spunked around since he's been in charge. Jamie Ward has been his best signing by a mile.

I've got to admit I want to at least see him give Reid a chance. With all thats happened with players getting injured this lad should've had a run out but nada, he must be utter shite in training or has majorily fallen out with Blackie.

Blackwell obviously has his favourites and Reid isn't one of them. I don't know why he bothers naming 7 subs as he has no intention of using half of them.

Is that Jamie Ward the striker ,or right winger ? Blackwell will probably use him and Geary as our next centre back partnership.

I thought Stewart was one of our better players against Newcastle.

Having said that, there must be something wrong with the fact that Reid was excellent in pre-season.

On Ward.....I think in the position he has played he's looked dangerous and we have missed him big time.

:)

If this were schoolboy soccer I'd worry about players changing wings etc. but at this level it is quite normal to mix and match. Cause we aren't winning it becomes the 'obvious' reason. Had a couple of our shots gone in, it would not even be mentioned.

but it was eveident that Stewart didn't have an effin clue on the right side. He looked totally and utterly bewildered at having to play there. To think we played on for 20 minutes with what seemed like 10 men was utterly mindless. Surely he has seen these players in training and knows that France, Cotts, Little or Reid would have been a better bet?!

Getting them on target would have helped out a lot in that regard.

Though as Taylor showed, it isn't always necessary.

Amen brother. Absolute lunacy! I've been spouting about this for days. Playing a LB at LW is possibly understandable. But to do it meaning that a LW has to play on the right wing is very strange (especially when you have 2 right wingers on the bench). For me the most criminal part was playing for 15 mins with a left back on the right wing when we were 1 nil down. We had Cotts and Little on the bench, but kept Stewart (a fucking left back) on the pitch. Sheer cluelessness from Blackwell.

Rubbish. I certainly would have brought it up. It's just poor management and tactics. He is asking for trouble using such poor judgement! People keep harping this rubbish about left footed players playing on the right and being able to mix and match and come inside and la de da. But we had Jordan Stewart playing on the right wing, not Joe Cole, Robert Pires or Freddie Ljundberg!!??

Despite all the moaning, many thought they played well as a team. So yes there are faults, but are they as dramatic as some would make out - not at all. Its a two-footed game. reacy scored his 'wonder' goal with the wrong foot - I guess he shouldn't do that any more. Lots of noise over a small problem. The real problem is players carring injuries which keeps the starting 11 ever changing.

Yes we'll be fine when Platini, Cruyff, Maradona and Do Nascimento are fit. Thank heaven we're not relying on nothing more than a very promising but raw youngster, a plodding shadow - chaser and a competent left-back. Phew, what a thought!

Still, Cloughie will soon have us on the right track again won't he?

But whats the point in us employing three specialist widemen if we're going to stick a left full back there?

And on top of that Stewart was actually injured before the game

So we had Reid, Cotts and Little on the bench but still decided to play with an injured LB on the wing.

Why do you assme they (the subs) were in any better shape? If only 7 were training it suggests that most subs were trying to fix something and are less than 100% ready to play.

If they were in worse shape than a lad with the shits and a lad with a strained calf they wouldn't have been on the bench in the 1st place!!

Still, thanks for your contribution Mrs Blackwell

I suppose your insult is intended to strengthen your arguement. Well good on you, my apologies for supporting the Blades and being willing to acknowledge the obvious. Not sure where you get all your medical information in order to judge the subs fitter than those who played.

I thought the "thumbs up" may have given it away that it was a jokey sarcastic comment. obviously not!!

Well he had no hesitation in throwing France and Cotterill on so they were fit enough to play.
