We are losing by the odd goal, (scunthorpe and Donny apart) since speed came in. While I dont like to think too much about games we have lost, In most we have been the better team. It is stupid defensive errors that are costing us at least a point.
Middlesborough- Morgan, Leeds-Jordan, Watford- not sure, Coventry- Taylor, Scunthorpe- How many including keeper? Bunley- Jordan, Ipswich Both goals defensive errors.
Out of those games (and i know others think othewise), we were better than Leeds Middlesborough,Watford, Scunthorpe.
Against Coventry alot beleive we were worth a point, (i thought we were bullied out)
and yesterday a lot thought we did alot of reasonable stuff. The last two games is probably down to me and my lad not expecting much.
So these errors are basic and glaring surely as a defensive player at this level you should know your position and when to mark space or the man? That cannot be down to Speed can it?
against Burnley we had a skillfull player at times trying to rip us apart (eagles) but when Jordan didnt mark the space for their last, that cannot be down to Speed.
Yesterday both their goal players wer not marked correctly that has got to be down to the player on the pitch, how can they have that much time for a ball to go quite high in the air and get a shot away whilst lighting a fag waiting for it to drop.
So we're crap at defending, crap at scoring, (despite plenty of good delivery yesterday including two crackers from nosworthy).
Speed played midfield and that is where we apear to be performing the best, Hmmm.
Players or Speed? or the players Speed is playing?

It's strange that we've started conceding a lot of bad goals since Speed took over. Are we spending less time on defensive organisation in training or are the mistakes leading to a lack of confidence and more errors?

The defence didn't concede loads of chances yesterday or look as shambolic as they did at Donny but the 2 goals we gave away were horrific. The space and time MacAuley got was just beyond belief. Obviously Simonsen's form isn't helping either. I'd say give Wright a run but in recent years he's looked as likely as anyone to drop a clanger - he was awful at the Lane last time he played.

I'm not suggesting that I want Blackwell back but I don't think we'd have lost the Coventry or Ipswich games under him.

We've got a slightly different defence to our old one that was tighter than a gnat's chuff. That may be the difference between losing four games in a season at home and losing five at home before the last fireworks have been lit. It seems now that we let sides score foirst just to make the job of trying to win even harder if not impossible.

We are not performing well in midfield at all. We are woefully weak there. There are two passengers in there who yesterday were, as usual, utterly and completely inept. Not a trace of ability between the pair of them, Absolute buffoons. We are playing with nine men. The gruesome twosome need to be moved on as soon as humanly possible. Which idiot condemned us to a to a cumulative total of six years of mediocrity this Summer?

Under Blackwell our players were very aggressive and using a lot of energy chasing and closing down the opposition. So far under Speed we seem to want to sit back a little more, though the emphasis on man marking is still there. He possibly wants us to reserve more energy on attacking movement, but maybe the middle ground doesn't work?

Defending aside, do you think we'd also scored more goals under Blackwell, and if so, why?
