This is the type of player we should be looking at, especially with our need for forward attacking threat.
Right age, 6'3", decent player that could be within budget??

I wasn't a massive fan when he came to the lane, did naff all but score a pen and then tried to shush our fans! s house? yes, good enough for the prem? Probably not

Very mobile and physical and caused us a lot of problems.
Type of striker who would create space and chances for Ilie.
Also could be a foreign loan so not using up a Premium slot?

But in terms of our strategy of getting players who are future proofed for our promotion push in 14 months time, he’s probably a good fit.

We need to have at least one good permanently contracted CF for if we go down. Got to use this PL chance to sign one. Maybe Kaba would be a good cheap pick up. One year on his contract

Exactly.
Afterall, we totally fucked that chance up last time.......twice!

McBurnie bagged 15 this season.
Played his part in us going back up.

As it stands, if we were to be relegated next season we'd only have Rhian Brewster contracted to the club.
We'd also have zero midfielders and very few defenders.
There should be more of a panic towards our future fragility.

Actually not the case. We signed McBurnie and he ended up contributing a lot to get us back up, with the minimum sort of goals return required - which we need to secure for next time. Ideally though we'll do that without spending 17m. In fact, we'll have to....!

Whilst I see your point I'd like to think in another 12 months if we're back down we'll have Jebbison and Osula all ready made to fire us back up fingers crossed.

United have been kicking the can down the road now for a good few years iro getting players signed on permanent contracts and getting players in place for the next few years. We now have a lot of work to do in this respect. We've not signed a permanent midfielder for about 3 years now. This summer should be about sorting this out and getting realigning ourselves and freshening up the team and squad and bringing in some permanents. We can't just go with loans all the time as eventually it catches up witb you.

Agree, but we still need a striker, as there's no guarantee we will be able to keep Brewster fit.

Brewster and Moose though......

Moose can't really be classed as a fuck up in the grand scheme of things.

Sad how it ended, but got the job done in his first season.
Neither can really be classed as fuck ups, but, they haven't really been worth the prices paid have they, and as for value......well, there it is.

Maybe a few will be signing new contracts in the next 6months ?

I preffered that philogene-bidace personally, he looked like a bag of tricks and everything seemed to go through him!
2 million apparently the asking price for him this summer with clubs in Belgium interested would seem a decent punt at that price.

That's got to be the hope but it's hard dealing with agents when a player enters the final year of their deal as the power shifts their way.

For example, if say Baldock or Egan have decent seasons but we look like we're going down, they will probably be advised to stall on signing anything.
Why wouldn't you keep your options open into the Summer when they might get offered a PL contract on better wages?

Any players who are now down to the last 12 months who we would probably see as still having a future with us, we should be starting negotiations now in an effort to extend their contracts. Alex Ferguson at Man United previously mentioned that he wanted his better players to sign up again 12 months before the end of the contract or if they didn't want to do this then they were moved on. Now we can't do that as we would hardly have any one left as we have allowed this situation to happen but we do need to start negotiating now for the likes of Baldock and Egan. Once they get to 6 months, they could easily start to think that it's in their interests to hold off until they become a free agent and the wages then go up tenfold.

Meanwhile, former Cardiff striker Sory Kaba has joined La Liga side Las Palmas on a four-year deal.
Kaba, 28, scored eight goals in 17 appearances after joining Cardiff on loan last January and had been linked with a return to the Championship

And sure enough, here we are, going down, without a decent centre forward under contract

Kaba hasn't done a lot in La Liga at Las Palmas and should be attainable

He hasn't done a lot there because he's not very Good

LOL. Las Palmas.....

We need this sort of signing to replace McBurnie

Kaba is a strong, decent CF at championship level
