Some perspective after SUFC 0-1 EFC

1 month shy of 4 years ago...yes it's a pity our dreams of Europe appear to have expired tonight (close but no cigar is a real fucking shame)
BUT, Doom Mongers please just keep re-reading the above sentence in an attempt to maintain some perspective and clarity.
Since that absolute shocker (United were woeful and Southend hadn't won a game since March) it's been 4 years of absolute fucking ace-ness.

Tired players and for some i have the feeling they have their head on holidays. How can a team play like they did against Spurs and Chelsea
and fall so short against Leicester and Everton. Leicester were a cut above blades on the day but Everton were poor first half and united were
playing around at 70% like a training routine. After Everton scored they moved to 80% but too much negativity.
Why cross a ball from a good position early when they can stop, turn and beat a guy, pass back and play several passes and then 3 minutes later play the cross which could have come in before the fannying about. two or three new personal required.

Defenders look tired, Bash had a good game before he was subbed. Berge was liability, Lundstum is not for me, let him leave and find a new contract.
Fleck looked sharper but McBurnie abd McGoldrick were shut out and the subs didnt improve matters. Very disapointing for final home game.

Throughout the season we have lacked creativity and the basics of passing to our own players. We have had no one prepared to take on his marker and try to go past.
We have achieved fantastic results by being highly organised,very fit and committed.
To be in the top half next season we need two or three more creative and better quality players.
Having said all that I have nothing but praise for the effort put in, the commitment and the overall fantastic achievement in not only avoiding relegation but in finishing in the top half.

To be in the top half next season we need two or three more creative and better quality players.
Having said all that I have nothing but praise for the effort put in, the commitment and the overall fantastic achievement in not only avoiding relegation but in finishing in the top half.

A bit much to say our players lack the basics of passing to our own players. No team would be top ten Premiership without players who do the basics right. We may not have world-beating players, but many of them have not looked out of place in the Premiership this season. As you say, the levels of commitment and organisation have been outstanding.

Personally, I think our way of playing, with such intensity, just wasn't possible, playing twice a week. I dont think think for a minute that our players had their thoughts on holidays. They are the most committed set of footballers. They have been a delight this season and for anyone to call them after we've recently beaten Chelsea, Spurs and Wolves is ridiculous. It's a good thing we didnt have a poor start to the season.

A bit much to say our players lack the basics of passing to our own players. No team would be top ten Premiership without players who do the basics right. We may not have world-beating players, but many of them have not looked out of place in the Premiership this season. As you say, the levels of commitment and organisation have been outstanding.

All our players will be brilliant footballers to play at that level exceptional what we lack and the grounds being empty has highlighted this is leaders,drivers nobody driving players that are having a below par performance nobody digging out team mates when we concede (especially at Leicester) we just turn and walk back to halfway line and kick off again where is the players being vocal.....don't see it anymore

It was total rubbish what he said and not bang on the money. You obviously don't watch Utd much either - not seen you on this board until we have strung a couple of losses together - perhaps you and snowflake could share a lift to Fleetwood next season!

My first reaction was to disagree (opinions on football were ever thus), but on reflection, your point about the lack of crowds is possibly an important one. In one way, we have a really strong team unit, and a feature of recent seasons has been how they help each other out - a defender makes an error, a team-mate covers, sorts it, and no shouting at the one who made the mistake. A defender is caught upfield, and Norwood or Fleck are back covering. The team spirit is impressive. But when several players have been off their game recently, there has not been an obvious leader going round to gee them up, and not only is that clear in a quiet stadium, but it also means they haven’t got a crowd to spur them on.

Name one team that’s come up from the championship and blown about £300m? In case people’s senses have took leave of them, here, off the top of my head, is the cost of MEDIOCRE quality in the Premier League. Haller, £45m, £120,000 a week to score less than McBurnie and not yet break sweat. Joelinton, £40m and circa, £100,000 a week. 2 (TWO) goals. Anderson (Wet Spam) £35m and circa £100,000 a week. Iwobi £35m £100,000 a week wages. Pepe £72m and f#ck knows how much a week. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the word, perspective?
