Is there any news on Billy's recovery progress? I really enjoyed watching the social media team's excellent videos from Lisbon but unless I missed something I never spotted Billy doing any running or ball work?

There was a section on Oli Mac doing light training with a ball but worryingly nothing at all of Bill which maybe suggests he is a major doubt to make it back for Watford?

I hope there is good news to come but we maybe looking at Ilyman + Jebbo leading the line on Day 1?

It’s a strange one seeing as we were saying he has a chance of making it every game for the last 4/5 games last season.

Joking apart , I’m getting worried about the situation with Billy .

We all know that fully fit , he’s still got many goals in him at this level and I was looking forward to him playing in our new system with Berge (if we manage to keep him) and Ndiaye just behind providing the service he’s not had since Mark Duffy left , rather than trying to feed of scraps as was the case in Wilder’s last season and under Slav .

Recent events indicate that he may be some way off being fully fit and , in this respect , I am most disappointed with information provided by the club with regard to his injury .

Within ten days or so of it happening , we were told that he was in contention for the following game and this mantra was constantly repeated for subsequent matches , even though he never kicked another ball for us and continues not to do so .

If the reason for this was , as some have suggested to mislead the opposition , then I don’t see that as a justifiable reason . This approach was also misleading to the fans who are the lifeblood of the club and who are accordingly entitled to a reasonably honest assessment of the situation , albeit without giving too much away .

Whilst I am a great admirer of Hecky and his team , he could have easily have fended off questions on the subject with a standard response such as “ It’s too early to assess “ rather than the ones which he must have known were at best , economical with the truth .
