Not only did we look short today, we also lacked anyone on the bench who could maybe change a game.
I think we need at least 4 in before the end of the window:
Defender - For the life of me I think Brayford is a better option than Freeman in this league, and a better option in the back 3. However, since that doesn't look likely, we need a CB.
Centre Midfield - We need some energy, fight and pace in midfield. Coutts and Fleck simply aren't going to be able to dominate games in this league. We're reliant currently on the defenders to help them.
Attacking Midfield centre - Obviously Brooks is the second coming, but in case not, we really need someone in this position. Carruthers is not a natural there, and he'll be fine in some games, but not against better teams. He looks like he'd never played there before at times. Duffy is likely to be an impact sub. Ditto to Brooks.
Striker - It's debatable whether we have one good Championship striker in the squad. We certainly have more than one who simply isn't good enough. Evans may come good, but unlikely. Clarke will do a job at times, but not every game. Lavery is like Bambi on ice. Hanson isn't anywhere near the standard we need. Billy will score if given chances but they're going to be at a premium this year.
sort those 4 out, and we can compete. We've not got any major injuries at the moment, and the bench still looks poor.
