It's only going to get harder than today and we were crap today. Out.

6% think he'll get it right. Of course he will, if I was in charge with such a bad start,I would eventually get it right , my misses would 'EVENTUALLY' get it right. But how low are we going to get before he gets it right. Oh dear so wanted (and thought) that weir was the one.

Like a divvy, I ticked the wrong box that he should stay. I should have ticked that he should go now. That interview on Radio Sheffield clinched it for me when he kept saying 'Ask the players' 'You'll have to ask them, I can't speak for them' Yes you 'kin well can, you're supposed to be in charge. Totally out of his depth and there's not even a glimmer of a sign of improvement on the pitch. Ladies and Gentlemen - meet the new Martin Peters....

Limited number of games for me.
Very limited -- Preston at home, if we don't win or play well then time for change.
I just hope the club handle it right and get the replacement lined up before they sack him.

I think he should go now, but i wouldn't mind if he stays so long as he changes his mentality. I think his only chance would be totally rip it all up, go to 4-4-2. Get rid of about 10 players, sign 5 or 6 and start again. But he can't do that until january. We don't have the players to play his way and we haven't got the time to wait until january. Plus, i don't think his way will work whoever we sign. He has to change or go. And he's shown no willingness to change. If he puts about 10 players on the transfer list, brings in 2 strikers, goes 4-4-2, then i'd give him til christmas. If he doesn't, i wouldn't give him a week.

Just has to go as of yesterday. Maybe we can offer him a scouting position.

I voted for out now.

My question is to the majority, how many more games is acceptable to give him?

I voted for get rid now.

I said when he was appointed it was the wrong time to take a gamble, despite being told by Pinchy that it wasn't a gamble at all.

It was a gamble and a gamble that didn't pay off.

Our old players can't play the style he wants them to and his new signings also don't fit into the system. This is not building, it is ruining something that was already on the way down. We cannot afford to give any more time up and risk falling even further. We need instant results from a proven manager.

Agreee in princliple in what you are saying but he has already signed Baxter, Culivier, McGinty, Taylor, Johns, Coady, McGinn, Bunn,Brandy. He has already started again and got it wrong so far.

Every single time a manager has come in to the club that either wants to or is given a mandate to transform the playing "style" do we go through this. Short sightedness in the extreme.

I do have faith that he will get it right. I accept that this faith could be misguided, but I also firmly believe that someone has got to take the club by the scruff of the neck and shake the shit out of it. This is most likely going to be painful in the short term.

It might well be that we have to go (significantly) backwards before we go forwards.

Cant remember how many times I have said this. Football has evolved. We have not, and are now paying the price. This applies to Utd and England in general.

I watch a lot of La Liga, and not just Barca and Real. They are STREETS ahead of us technically. Streets. Why is this ??

Football is a results business, that is a given. I accept that if someone is trying to turn a sows ear in to a silk purse, it will take more than 6 or so weeks !!!!

Say we are now top of the league, 7 games in, 21 points in the bag. Does this mean we have finally cracked it ???

No of course it doesn't. Thats the kind of perspective I would like all Blades fans to have at the present time. Not easy I know, but that is precisely what is required. I think I know what Weir is trying to do and, if it does actually work, will leave a smile on all our faces. Trust me ;).

Give the bloke a fucking chance or we will continue to slip backwards in to the dark ages of football that we have seemed to be stuck in for as long as I can remember.

Give the bloke a fucking chance? ! If we persist with him we are going down. As for this style revolution - what style? A few sideways and backwards passes in our own half. Is that it? No pace, no power, no forward passes, no players running with the ball, one up front even when playing against shite, no one bursting a gut to get forward, 10 men back for every corner. It's dire to watch and doesn't get results.

Dark ages of football ? I think we are already there - you may have noticed we have lost 5 out of our first 7 games IN THE THIRD DIVISION. No United team in history has ever started as badly as that.

You may want us to play pretty pretty passy passy football in the fourth division (which seems to be Weir's masterplan). I, for one, don't.

Deano. I feel your frustration. Perhaps you (and others) are right. My faith is misguided !!

However, if I was the manager of the club, I would be looking to build the playing style up in incremental stages.

First stage in this process is to make all players (and I do mean all) on the pitch at any given moment in time to be comfortable on the ball. If you don't have this from CB to CF then you might as well go back to hoofing the ball up top and playing the percentages. Its that simple. While you are trying to get to this stage, mistakes will be made and results will be indifferent. You either accept this or you do not.

Where we are currently at is not quite there yet. Obviously. Once this stage is "cracked" (and assuming that it ever is) we can move on to the transition of play in to the final third. This primarily involves the movement of the ball and the players on and off the ball at a MUCH higher tempo. See excellent thread "As I see it" as regards the way the Germans do this and the suggestion that this is where Weir is going wrong.

My belief is that this is what Weir is trying to achieve. Small incremental stages in the process of evolving the playing style. I could of course be wrong and that he doesn't have a scooby.

OK lets sack him then.

Any suggestions as to what we do next ??

As it happens. I am for giving him 5 more games. If we win a couple of them and start motoring away from the bottom 4, then fine. If we are still in the same pile of shit, I think it would then be patently obvious that Weir isn't up to the job and virtually anyone else would be better - for God's sake even the widely derided Morgan did better than him.

I really don't buy this "Weir has a plan, you need to have patience and all will come good". I would love to be proved wrong but, for me, all the evidence suggests he is just out of his depth.
