Dont know if its on here anywhere else , haven't seen it , but after having gone missing for 2 decades plus the county cup trophy , last won by Barnsley was spotted up for sale on EBAY and has been returned to its home at the local FA

Attended many a county cup game in the past, one at Barnsley we won left a lasting impression as I was hit on the head by a brick whilst standing on Barnsley railway station and had the impression London on my head for a while

was first played for in 1920 last season 1999

This is sad if it was a Liverpool/Manchester or even Leeds it would have made the National news , but South Yorklshire not a chance , i can never understand why our fine Football History ,means so little to the rest of the country .

True.....do a search of the internet regards the history of football
and there’s very little mention of Sheffield anywhere.....it’s just a cursory mention.
I’ve even seen some sites say the first football clubs were the universities in and around London.

Even during the 96 Euros with the “football is coming home” song.......no mention of Sheffield’s importance.
