I have heard today Leeds have offered £1.5 million plus Billy Sharp for Jamie Murphy.
Would you be happy with this deal?

Saw that on twitter. Not sure, but it'd be better than just selling him and sitting on the cash.

You know what the more I read from some posters on this forum the more I start to think Pinchy is right, it could only happen in the crazy world of S2 where anyone with a bit of ability is to be sold off to the first bidder's low offer to bring in a busted flush like Billy Sharp Bladey bladeness and all that kickitlongkickithardupanatemlovehoof ................ deary me you couldn't make it up :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm the opposite, 1.5m would be disappointing.
Less than 1.5m and Sharp would be even worse

I agree. I mean, what do we want Murphy for anyway. We have plenty of players at his ability and beyond, plus about four left wingers loads better than him with stacks of goals in them. I think we should also ignore the contract he has just signed and just give him away. In fact, we should pay for Billy 'never done much in a United shirt' Sharp. It's only Leeds United, innit?

Guys. If the rumour is there, consider it done. McCabe will reveal that somewhere in Murphy's new contract was a trigger that if anyone comes in with an offer above £6.75, we have to accept it. And his hands are tied - he can do nothing about it.

Following on from the twitter rumours that Sharp becomes a Blade today. Let's hope Murph's not going the other way

I'm not convinced that Billy is the answer for us. As much as I love to see billy doing well and banging in the goals, he's quite a difficult player to fit into a side.

I think you have to have all the component parts in place in midfield to make it work.

One plus is that billy likes the ball to feet. the last few years we've played neat football but whilst I think billy plays in a similar way to Ched did, he doesn't quite have that pace over 5-10 yards that ched did.

Billy isn't really someone you can stick up top alone as he's more of a poacher than someone that plays with his back to goal.

I also think that with this division you need a target man unless you have everything else in place. If we lost murphy we'd have players coming in like done and Adams, but to replace murphy with sharp would be a little daft.

I'd go for O'Grady up front, get him in asap and less pissing about

I wouldn't sell with that proposal, I'm with most blades on this one for a pleasant change. I was dubious of Sharp coming in on a regular transfer, but him in exchange for Murphy and I don't think you'll be able to replace the talent level lost even with £1.5m.

Given that as of Saturday there were no medicals booked in I'd be amazed if anything has been sorted. Adkins apparently wants to have a look at the players we've got before making any signings.

Oh, and Adkins was described as "very impressive" by the guy I was talking to. He's been around a while and seemed genuinely upbeat.

Cant think why you think like this Pommpey if we sell murphy it will be to strengthen the team adkins has not come in to be sold down the river by the board he is ambitious and he will have been told he will get support to
strengthen the team where its needed.Surely the board made a statement by giving clough the funds to buy
brayford.there are regulations in place and adkins has said we wont be breaking them but he will have licence
to strengthen the team not weaken it!.If selling murphy happens and i think it is just another pre-season rumour
adkins will use the money wisely, murphy is not ireplaceable but ime sure that if murf is part of his plan he will not be sold or is it your way of having a go at mccabe .

I want us to sign Billy Sharp. Bladey Bladeness to one side, he knows where the onion bag is. But Jesus no I wouldn't swap Murphy for him even with the 1.5m

Does anyone think Murphy would realistically want to leave us and after taking quite a while to settle in uproot his young family to move them to Leeds? And let's face it with that loony running them they could have 3 different managers before Christmas!

He's had two cracks at it with us (1.5 maybe) but they weren't proper cracks for me.

1st time we were a team on the up (gunning for premiership) he young and was always gonna struggle to break into the team.

2nd time, he was stuck out wide with Beattie being the central "main" striker. Beattie left, Sharp found form then got injured.

I would have Sharp back straight away. Especially working under Adkins. That said, Leeds can fuck right off taking Murphy in part-ex.

Doesn't need to move does he. Sharp "allegedly" signed for Leeds so he could live in/around Sheffield.

Small matter of a huge pay rise as well. Once his missus gets wind of that it won't be up to him anymore.
