Season tickets

I noticed that our neighbours across the city have put theirs on sale today whereas we've had no announcements.

I'd imagine one would be imminent, considering STs have gone on sale at the beginning of March for the last few years.

Being realistic, I'd hope that our season ticket prices wouldn't rise. Being optimistic, I'd hope they'd actually fall to reflect the fact that the chances are, we'll be seeing yet another season in League One.

So how much would you be willing to pay to renew/buy a new season ticket?
Reduce the price increase the crowd, give the fans something back and have free tickets for 6 to 11 years old to raise a new generation of fans

I've seen some clubs advertising 10 or 6 game tickets on Twitter (Charlton I think?). I thought that was a good idea in terms of saving money for fans who can't afford the full ST but I'm not sure how the logistics of it works... if say, everyone with a 10 match season ticket wanted to attend the same game, we'd have to reserve capacity to ensure that they could gain entry .

What they could do fairly easily is to drop the price by a quid for every 5 matches you attend.
So for the Kop it would be something like:-
£17 games 1 to 5
£16 games 6 to 10
£15 games 11 to 15
£14 games 16 to 20
£13 games 21 to 23

So it would still be cheaper to buy a season ticket up front if you can afford it and know you'll attend most matches.
But if you're one of these who maybe can only get to say 18 games, you would save £24 on the full price and be incentivised to keep going as the price gets cheaper.

So season tickets aren't on sale yet? Not seen any emails or messages on the OS about pricing etc, so I presume not

No they aren't on sale yet. Don't think it'l be long though until we're getting emails/renewal forms through the post.

I'd imagine the deadline will be later this year as it has been previously. For the last couple of seasons, the second week in April has been the cut-off for cheap renewals but I think there's something else going off on the 12th/13th that will be a bit expensive.

You'd hope they'd allow at least another pay-day to help spread the costs a little and have the renewal cut-off at the beginning of May.

I mentioned something like this in another thread, it'd be super easy to do with the technology we have

Personally I don't think 300 for the Kop is THAT unreasonable, for sure we'd all like it to be cheaper but compared to a lot of other clubs it's alright. It's moot for me as I can't make more than about 8-10 games a year due to travel

Aren't they a lot cheaper if you're just renewing them? Kinda banking on that.
Think we paid £410 in the John St stand for buying early. Hope it's no more, that and potentially 3 Wemberleeeeeeeee visits, travel, food and one of those cool "scarfs" advertised on here it's gonna be a ball bustin credit card bill come May

How about the club do something where part of the season ticket money is refunded depending on how many we sell? So based on Kop prices:
  • 8,000 and under sold - Full Price £300
  • 8,500 sold - £290 - £10 back
  • 9,000 sold - £280 - £20 back
  • 9,500 sold - £270 - £30 back
  • 10,000 sold - £260 - £40 back etc etc etc....

It'd be good it the season ticket was more flexible. I think other clubs are involved in the ticket swapping website (can't remember the name of it) where you can put your ticket up for sale if you can't go.

So you buy a full season ticket, but can sell your individual match tickets online for those games that you can't attend.

This obviously wouldn't benefit the club financially on the re-sales, but they would get more money up front from season tickets, but it would benefit fans

This would cost the club a serious amount of money

Just to add to this, the clubs that use these sites are the club that sell out most, if not every match.

Why would anyone buy a seat from someone else, when they can just turn up at the ticket office and buy a ticket without any problems.

Also why would the club want to sell on sold tickets, when they've already got a season ticket holder's money and they have plenty of other seats to sell?

One thing I would like the club to do, which I've said OVER and OVER is get involved with one of the local building societies and create a Blades Savings Account, encouraging responsible financial management in saving for games/season tickets instead of offering expensive credit options when the time comes round.

You could start with the young 'uns. When you join the Junior Blades, you get an account opened up in the JB's name and the Club would deposit a couple of quid or whatever. Then it's up to the JB and their family to grow the account and they can use it in any way they wish but if they have a Blades Savings Account book and withdraw their money to buy a season ticket (you'd get a receipt or something when withdrawing the cash) you'd get a nominal discount on the ST. Once they'd reached savings milestones, they'd get free tickets or whatever.

For adults, it'd be a monthly savings account whereby you commit to crediting the account each month with the same amount by standing order. The idea being that when March/April rolls around, you've got a stash of cash to use for your ST. And again, the Club could offer a small discount for doing it this way.

Assuming these are still available seeing as the link is still live

Know it's not exactly what you're talking about but it's probably the closest thing. They've been offering these accounts for at least 10 years....obviously not marketing them very well though!
