Tonge give him away, Blackie yer will have to earn yer corn.

QUALITY MIDFIELDER REQUIRED URGENTLY !

SilverFox

Its plain for all to see the Blades need a QUALITY midfielder.
To many players are being carried, for instance Tonge is a waste of a shirt.
Promotion won't come easy and carrying passengers makes it impossible.

AMBITION LACK OF

absolute joke............sell Tonge with no replacement lined up.

Promotion..................yer havin a laugh !

Make your mind up, mate.

I have to say that i'm disappointed but not surprised that we have so far been unsuccessful to bring in a replacement for the departed Michael Tonge.

If the reason that he was allowed to leave in such hasty circumstances was a belief that a couple of loan players would be in by the end of the international break then it has to go down as a mistake by Blackwell.

Everyone is entitled to make mistakes and i think that Blackie has done a fantastic job so far but i had hoped he would be the man to end long running quest for a new creative central midfielder.

I guess time will tell how costly this mistake proves to be, if a new middy arrives before saturday or even before the close of the loan window then it may not prove to be a mistake at all!

Yes I agree completely! It's just that your points are as clear as your spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Back to topic.

If what was printed in The Star last night was true (about Koumas' injury throwing into jeopardy our chances to sign Brown) then it does look as though KB lost his gamble - which was one of the reasons I was annoyed to see Tonge go. Gambling is a game for mugs.

What about strikers gambling on a ball, could end up putting the ball in the net for us ;)

Looks like there is a problem with the loan signings..................

WHAT A SURPRISE !

Transfer talk played down
Posted on: Thu 11 Sep 2008
Hopes of landing a player on loan by the weekend have receded but Kevin Blackwell has insisted that he is prepared to wait for the right man.

Media speculation about potential targets dampened down in midweek and the United boss explained why he was not surprised:

"It is understandable that managers do not want to let players out until they are certain that their International players return injury free. I am in the same boat with some of my own lads whom other managers have enquired about, and am very reluctant to let them out this week.

"There will be no decision making this week on our players, because I have two players coming back from International duty on Friday and need to see how they are. They tell me that they are OK but I want to assess them in the morning.

"I am in talks with one or two clubs about bringing someone in but I am not prepared to say which. If I have to wait longer then so be it, because it has to be someone who will improve us and be better than Michael Tonge, otherwise there was no point inn letting him go."

This is a confusing statement, to me it sounds like Blackie is saying that there was no point in letting Tonge go if we do not replace him with someone better; but he HAS already let him go without replacing him with someone better.

I really wish we would have said nothing about the potential loan arrivals because we have once again raised expectations and not delivered. Blackies reasoning in the above article is correct; clubs are rightly cautious about releasing players during or on the back of an international break but i just wish we would say "we are looking at potential targets" and leave it at that.
