Veterans of this site will recall us blowing it at Birmingham in 75 as well

Had we won at Birmingham in 1975 we still wouldnt have got in the UEFA Cup in the following season. Stoke (5th) thought they did until Everton (4th) won their appeal a few weeks later to make the UEFA scrap the "one club per city" ruling

No but it will be if we average 2 points per game over the last 8 games because I don’t think Leeds will - currently we have 4 over 3 games which is 1.3 - and not enough

I see the cap doffer's are out of the asylum again FFS to say Leeds are playing in top form is utter bollocks we beat them a few weeks back they struggled to beat lowly Millwall, lost at Brum and could not break down Preston until that numpty Pearson got himself sent off. Most said the last two games would show us how we are doing well guess what we took a point more than Leeds did even if our performances were shit as the moaners would have you believe. Any team can have 70% possession every game like Leeds so what ? We have scored as many goals as they have but conceded fewer. Lets see how the weekend pans out, our turn to play lowly Millwall while they play the pigs who still have a mathematical chance of the play off's. I know who I would sooner be playing and it ain't the pigs who since dead loss Jos left have learned how to grind out 0-0 results, if they don't beat Leeds any chance of a top six finish is over for them.

Whilst we weren’t at our best I think the fan you were talking to is taking the pessimtic view as expectations have risen anything you other than blowing teams is considered a below par performance.

As I’ve said earlier in the season on previous threads making the most of our chances has been the difference from us being top of the league to where we are now. You only have to look at the game against yourselves, we should have been 3-0 up before you took the lead.

Birmingham was similar we were great but if bamford doesn’t hit the post 60 seconds before Birmingham score the result would have been different.

Millwall, in their cup final we gave away 2 sloppy goals but the rest of the game it was us, again missing a penalty

Preston again we were the only team looking to score & whether Pearson had been sent off or not we’ll never know but the balance of play was showing 1 team were pushing for the win.

Now the natural pessimist of a Leeds fan will say we don’t look good we could blow it etc & I have those thoughts as well at times. But I’ve only felt beaten & out of it in 1 game this season that was West Brom away. In every other game I could make a case that we’ve deserved something from the game, which is what gives me confidence, we haven’t been outplayed barring West Brom away & we’re always pushing teams, sometimes teams defend brilliantly & keep us out but on the whole I fancy us to win the game & as soon by the stats, if we score first we win
