He's 28 and available on a free after being released by Cambridge. I reckon we could do a lot worse as competition for George.

When Sam was at Stevenage in 2014-5 his Dad was an unused sub for a couple of times: there was no other keeper on the books. Shame he didn't get on: he'd have broken the oldest player record in doing so, as he was 55.

If that's the sort of market we're looking at, we might as well bump Ramsdale up to the bench as he's impressed in genuinely competitive games for the academy sides.

In an ideal world we'd either keep Long as first choice with a reliable experienced understudy, or move Long on and get a much better first choice in. I don't see Beasant being a good fit for either role.

Total strawman argument. Sinclair played for a joke and looked like one, this fella played like a man in the shop window and made some good reaction saves. Can't judge an outfield player on a match like this, but a good save is a good save. And all we need in this department is someone cheap to sit on the bench and come in if George gets crocked.
