The defense's confidence is shot to pieces, Collins is back to being as bad as when he first arrived, Maguire's form has disappeared completely and none of the full backs we have on the books I would pay in tap washes.

if we can't keep clean sheets we have nothing to build on going forward whoever we bring in as manager.

I think we are going be relegated this season.

There is another way. The midfield could protect the defence like they are supposed to and we could try stopping crosses coming in. It was like the Alamo at times. Whoever the new manager issue first thing he needs to do is getting us back into a unit

Well send a loan or two back to shore up the defence. That would be my priority - one of those loans would be a central defender and my next captain. <sheffielder like this> :-)

We need someone to come in & give competition to harry & Collins.

Id like an old style cb in the morgs mould to put the fear of god into opposition strikers.

Than we need a box to box mid who isnt afraid to break a few opponents legs & our own if they arnt pulling their weight.

We've taken the first step. Got rid of the clueless fucker in charge and his ideological rubbish. Let's hope the club have learned too. A clone of Weir (I fear Clough is, but we'll see) could well see us relegated. We look like a side who could struggle a league below too.

When they realised some urgency was required, we looked a different team.

Moving the ball forwards quickly is not a crime. Believing so has put us within 30 places of Nuneaton Borough.

Learn the lesson quickly United.

I don't think Clough would be the right man for the same reason. Too nice, doesn't look like he has a shout in him for me. Need the team to fear the manager and be scared of entering the dressing room if (when) playing badly.
And Robert page being discussed? Please no.

This ^^^

Can anyone name me a functioning partnership in this team? Harry and Collins? No. Fullback and winger? No. Number 9 and number 10? No.

We don't want grand plans. Just begin by getting the players to recognise their nearest team mate and work together. The rest comes later.

Whoever wants the job needs to get the board in a room and explain how he is going to get us going.. I am
Just glad we showed there is some fight to get it right

I honestly believe the first half was the last we will see of the totally destroyed belief Weir had engendered within our squad, hed left them bereft of belief in their ability, as his departure sunk in , by the inclusion of the 3 subs , boy did we look better , you could see them thinking , perhaps we have some ability (limited as league 1 players have)

What David Weir has done to this time is scandalous ,he has completely destroyed the confidence , belief ,togetherness and team spirit of a whole club in such a short space of time. What a fucking disaster he has been.
Hang on... Didnt Danny Wilson do that last season?

It all depends which of our two teams decides to show up for the remainder of the season. To knock it around like we did when 3 down yesterday shows what we're capable of.

The starting point for me would be a commanding presence in the heart of the midfield to replace Doyle. Start McGinn ahead of Coady who may well be gone when his loan's up, find a left back who doesn't need Brandy to cover for him and let him do his stuff 50 yards further up the pitch. Give Taylor a decent run in the team and try and find some consistency. We've got some decent players for this League, enough to salvage this season and with one or two additions we SHOULD be capable of turning the season around.

Still not convinced that Clough's the man for the job but if it's him, so be it. Maybe he'll bring old Jamie back with him :)

Oh really? I thought that's why everyone wanted him sacked

Not sure why you're aiming this at OldBlade unless it's personal. I think they are all guilty from Warnock onwards of running this team to the ground. We have a whole squad with no leaders in which tells me egos get in in the way for some of our managers.

They can all take some blame for me. Utter garbage with no bollox between them. We need a manager who comes with his own captain at this rate

I would love Jamie Ward back

I quoted his post, it wasnt personal, just responding to a post.

I agree all of the post NW managers have played their part in our downfall, many seemed good ideas at the time others not so. The players have also played their part or not as the case seems to have been.

Blaming individuals, not in a squad game.

But it seems mad that we blame the last man in charge when only 6 months ago we all blamed Wilson for dour football.

Weir will argue he didnt have enough time. Wilson will argue he'd have got us to the play off final if he'd had 5 extra games.

Weirs gone now and I really hope that
a) we pick a decent manager, were not going to get a top manager, we'll either get an inexperienced man or a someone that's been around this level a while. Or the one that wants one last challenge.
b) we have to give the next man time! Stability is key to our future.

I really don't care about budgets and spending, but building a team that can compete in this division or possibly the 4th div.

Im sick of these pundits usually managers saying he didn't have enough time. They didn't see how the life had been sucked out of the club and the state of the team under Weir. They of course have a vested interest anyway of keeping their own jobs ,but I think Weir is possibly our worst ever manager and this building a club bollocks is just a red herring to hide the shit job he was doing.

Agree but.....

....I was very pleased with the signing of Weir and thought it was very inspired.

Then again I was wrong.

All I ask for is a signing that gives me hope.

And the team start to close down the opposition like the last 20 mins on Sunday

I don't think everyone did want him sacked. The decline in our fortunes last season can be traced pretty much to the winter transfer window and we all know what happened then.

Weir had the same goalkeeper, back four and defensive midfielder available to him as Wilson. That defensive unit kept 21 clean sheets in the league last season. Almost every other game we prevented the opposition from scoring.

This season we have not kept a single clean sheet in any of our league games. Enough said.

True, but the spine of the team changed often and the system was different.

And was the manager who chose that different system. There is no excuse for turning a rock solid defence into a sieve.

Goal scoring has been a problem for a while. Preventing them going in at our end hasn't been a problem - until the month of August arrived
