Sack the pig now

I'll wait to see how he does before making any knee-jerk reactions; he could end up being great.

he should never have got an interview
12 years at this level and no promotions says it all
+ fact he's ex wednesday
+ his record at this level last season was worst than Adams who has a better track record then Wilson

it doesn't make any sense why Mccabe has made this appointment only the fact he must be the cheapest option
as he tick none of the other boxes

I think the problem here is that he is perceived to be a pig, as was Robins.
His record can't be brought into it because unfortunately his win record is actually better than a lot of the other managers fans wanted.

The simple fact seems to be that he played for and managed Wednesday so that's why some fans don't want him.

If that is the case they should just say that, rather than try and make their argument reasonable by trying to bring him last seasons record.

Personally I felt there were better options available and again (as with Adams), McCabe has made the wrong decision. Nothing to do with him having any Wednesday connections at all.

You know how you get a good percentage win record? Get close, but don't get promotion regularly. That's how Warnock got a good one with us, and that's how Wilson has done it too.

Getting close to a promotion next season would be an achievement. However I think it wouldn't be good enough for Wilson in the eyes of the fans.

Getting close to a promotion next season would be an achievement.

It would, given the deep pockets and massive attendances of Exeter, Rochdale, Leyton Orient, Brentford, Bournemouth, Wycombe, Chesterfield, Notts County and other League 1 giants. Then there's also going to be one of Stevenage or Torquay to worry about.

Yes and look where we are. We shouldnt be looking down our nose at anyone!

Oh, I'm not. We are in this league on merit.

But the fact remains that we have more resources than 90% of the division, a very rich chairman, and no external debt. I know we have a huge wage bill and a lot of dross on the books, but wringing our hands and saying we are ever so poor and that midtable would be satisfactory is defeatist IMHO. If we wheel and deal well in the transfer market, and make a good managerial appointment, it will very difficult to compete with us. This imminient idiocy will not help ,sadly.

Yes we should ,we are Sheffield Utd and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as some of the above.

we are man utd at this level and should be battering teams as should the pigs.. it is sheer economics.. on a fanbase of 15k we should be able to get better players than teams on 4k it is as simple as that.. that is no disrespect to anyone else in the league.. the fact that scunny on their attendance figures ended up the same as us is a massive achievement
a position in the league table any lower than that of your wagebill for the season is a FAILURE

It's not just a question of economics though, as it is also governed by the competency of those in charge. Unfortuately United have McCabe (I will point the finger solely at him as he did say that he is the one who makes the decisions) who appears to have a tub of lard between his ears.

You could be right Bladesinbolton looking at his talent for bringing in quite a list of losing managers.

It's not about coulds and shoulds. We're shockingly poor. We have players who earn extravagant money on lengthy contracts and who simply cannot match the hunger and teamwork of most other teams in Div 1.

They think they belong in the league above. They think others are to blame. They're wrong. Thusly they will fail.

Until they go, we're going nowhere but downwards. If the pitchforkers had any sense at all they'd be chasing these parasites out of Sheffield, not our blameless manager.

I think there is a massive adjustment that we have to make. Clear out a lot of high earners ( some of which we wont be able to move on) and build a new team. I think to do that in one season is an tough goal.

we are Sheffield United

it means that in 122 years well 110 league seasons we are starting our 7th outside the top 2 divisions (our porcine neighbours start their 10th outside the top 2 )

all of which means we, in direct comparison to 20 of league one clubs we are a "top" side, wont use the word big , even though our attendances dwarf 95% of our upcoming combatants

We were decimated by injury again last year which robbed us of what strength we had

imagine if QPR like us had only 8 games from Taarabt and 8 from Clint HILL or DERRY ,
as we only got from Henderson and Morgan
Dont think QPR would have kept their consistancy

We need , more than anything to get what players we have , on the park, our first choice to actually play games

If we can do that top 6 or better should be within our grasp

We should take a leaf from Peterboroughs way of going about it
sod who we are playing , lets go for it
