I am sure this lads name has been mentioned on the forum before however what a player..

never seen Woods before the opening day fixture and was impressed watched the 2nd half last night against QPR and again very very impressive, read on Wikipedia comments from his previous manager at Shrewsbury, Micky Mellon, " the hardest working player in the squad 1st to training, last one to leave"

Surely worth a punt?
Could he be tempted by a move North? or out of our league?

Quality player calm, composed great passer never looks troubled or rushed

Would love to see this lad playing along side Fleck

I am not rubbishing Lundstram in any way, time will tell so regardless of who we currently have this lad would improve us Quality signing in my opinion

again apologies if going over old ground here

Been saying the same since the Brum match, gets my vote...any ideas what Brentford would want for him if he wanted to leave?

He played as Right Back for Shrewsbury a few years back. We beat them 2-nil but he was the stand out player

Think he went to Brentford from the Shrews for around 1M id say 2M would tempt them

Considering he's still got 3+ years on his contract, he's going to be out of our price range...
Same goes for Swift at Reading.

Brentford not known for letting their players go cheaply except Jack O'Connell! And of course they'll be forewarned by our string of sneaky 300k signings! (Must add to 'in jokes' thread). So 5-7 million is a good estimate.

The figure of £8 million was quoted in a previous thread. Not sure if it would be that high, but he'd certainly cost us a hefty sum. Saw him when he played at right back for the Shrews, think most people were impressed with him that day. Seems he's gone from strength to strength, so could possibly have the talent and desire to make a go of it in the Premiership, but for the Blades I think he'd be a great acquisition. Having said that I doubt we'd have the ambition to stretch our budget that far. A pity, as I think Woods would do a great job in midfield and bring the nous we're in need of.

They did mention in commentary last night that a host of Premier League clubs have been watching him this season.........but then again, they might decide to waste their money on a continental type and leave him available for a swoop...........but doubt he'd be cheap.

I bought him for £2mil on FIFA.

Lets make it happen.

He’s recently signed a long contract and is apparently their best player.
The recent sales of Jota and Deane happened because they both refused to sign contract extensions.

I’d assume Brentford would want more like £10 million, they have no pressure to sell.

If we are going to splash the cash this is the type of player I think we should do it on. Ones that are young and still have a point to prove. Not at the other end of their career and on the way down

Not sure he's worth as much as some people think even though he was Brentford's player of the year last season. Wolves turned down 6mill for Coady from us in the summer, think he would go for that tbh.

Just been reading a Ryan Woods possible transfer thread on the Brentford forum.
They really rate him and seem to put a fair valuation at £5 million to £8 million.
So you’re right, an eventual £6 million bid for Woods might seal the deal.
No doubt we’d start at £3 million, then after a few days increase it to £4 million, then a few days later increase it to £4.2 million etc etc.

Maybe there’s a clause in Woods contract that lets him go cheaper under certain conditions.

Whilst it’s common knowledge that we made a bid, I will bare my arse on the town hall steps ( ;) ) if the offer wasn’t nearer a tenth of that.

Ryan Woods, Jon Swift, Tom Cairney - any one of those 3 will do.
