This must be the biggest period of dominance for either team in the Sheffield derby. We're 7 undefeated and they didn't score in 6 of them. They've had a total of 5 shots on target in the last 5 derbies!
That's brought back some bad memories! I was at all of them although the ZDS game was a decent game.Incidentally, the longest time period without a win would be Uniteds 21 years from 1970 to 1991, but there were only 6 games:
12/4/71 A D2 D0-0
26/12/79 A D3 L0-4
5/4/80 H D3 D1-1
9/8/80 A LC L0-2
12/8/80 H LC D1-1
21/11/89 A ZDS Cup L2-3
One double since world war 1...WoW...so 1 in 100 years.. never new that. When Duffy stopped the bounce it was the last time for 8 years ( and counting) they celebrated scoring against us , ( imagine if they knew that at the time ) ,
,a few other things from the weekend ,,
United's stating 11 contained only 2 players who we had paid a fee for , We had a younger average age than Wednesday
,, it was the largest away victory in Steel City Derby history , Wilder continues his unbeaten run in the SCD ,
He has won on 3 occasions in the last 8 years at Hillsborough , 3 Wednesday victories at Bramall Lane takes you back 1965 (60 years) , with them winning on our patch only once since Man first walked on The Moon ,
obviously United's victory prevents Wednesday doing the double, something they have only done once since the trenches were dug in World War 1 ,,
Patrick Bamford who had been at United for 10 days has won more SCDs than Barry Bannon who has been at Wednesday 10 years ,
This being our 2nd victory at Hillsborough in 2025 it equals the amount of times Wednesday have won there this year ,
, and onto their favourite topic of attendances , if they had given The Blades the bottom tier they would have sold out but they didn't do they didn't
Don't think they would have sold out even if they gave us the lower tier. There were loads of empty seats on the kop and South Stand.Clearly visible on TV.When Duffy stopped the bounce it was the last time for 8 years ( and counting) they celebrated scoring against us , ( imagine if they knew that at the time ) ,
