Sunderland left sided player Ross Wallace is to be named as Kevin Blackwell's first summer signing in the coming weeks. The Scottish winger who played a key role in Sunderland's promotion to the Premiership in 2006/07 has found himself transfer listed at Sunderland after Andy Reid's impressive performances kept him out of the team.
Wallace began the season in exceptional form, providing an assist for Chopra's winner against Spurs on the opening day, before playing a key role in the equaliser in their second game at Blackburn.
Wallace, is comfortable at either left back or on the left hand side of midfield and would provide an excellent purchase in a position that Kevin Blackwell has shown signs of improving.
Earlier in the week, Blackwell claimed that he had not shown an interest in Plymouth star Peter Halmosi. Apparently Blackwell had said that he was a good player and he was interested in all good players, which led to speculation that the Hungarian winger could be on his way to Bramall Lane.
However, Sunderland would require a bid in excess of £1.5 million for the Scotsman. Bristol City have also reportedly declared an interest but the Blades would surely be a more excitable proposition.(TAKEN FROM VITAL FOOTBALL)
