In tommorrows Times, Robson has his say on matters, nothing too controversial and to be expected...

The Times said:
“The fans have made it impossible for me to stay as manager,” Robson said last night.

“The way they protested with such vitriol has made it difficult for Kevin McCabe \ and Terry Robinson.
“The pressure came from the supporters. There’s a lot to be said for fan power, but they don’t always take into consideration the full workings of what goes on behind the scenes at a football club. It’s a shame, as it’s a great club and I was confident we would eventually get back up and stay there.

“The results weren’t what we wanted, but it was still only one defeat in nine and we were still in the FA Cup. James Beattie was getting fit again, Rob Hulse was improving all the time and I’d brought in quality players such as Gary Speed. I’ve actually brought in £6 million from sales of players in the process. But I don’t blame Kevin or Terry. They are great people to work for. The club has the foundations to move forward. The role they offered me was fantastic, but it isn’t what I want in my career at the moment.”

I am sure being Ball Boy would be a step down. :D

What does he want as Career ? I cant see him walking into another managers job. I can only see him doing another Carlsberg advert.

Anyway good luck to him.

He's made £6 million in transfers? Where and When?

He speaks bollocks, and his last nail in the coffin was blaming the fans for that abject performance last Saturday.

Completely. He claims to have sorted out the Jags and Davies transfers. Well Bryan, Jags was always going to leave us if we went down. Nowt to do with you. And Claud was a dead cert to leave to, because he'd rather be an injury prone useless pillock in the Premiership.
Selling Fathi was a bit too hasty, and look at the players you brought in.
Beattie - success.
Billy - failure. Shame, because he's a Blade, but a striker with no goals is a failure.
Naysmith - the odd good game, the odd howler. Jury out.
Carney - success-ish.
Martin - hmm.
Cotterill - hmmmmm.
Speed - looking like a decent move.

So, the only decent things he has really left us with are Speed and Beattie, with the potential of the others developing. So thanks for those two, now take the money and keep your mouth closed.

One in 8-9months!!! Or that's how it looks the way he's worded it!

To be fair I think Carney and Martin are good signings.
Beattie excellent, Speed good, Naysmith not so good. As for Billy, we can hardly blame him for that - probably 90% of the fans wanted him here as well!

is it possible that blackwell might be able to get something out of him? surely he knew his abbility when he was here last time?

I'm certainly hoping so. I know a fair few fans who don't reckon much to Billy but his work-rate is top notch and for a player to bag 30-odd goals in a promotion season, I don't accept that had he stayed with Scunthorpe he wouldn't be well amongst the goals again this season. Getting the best out of Sharp might not be on the top of priorities for Kevin Blackwell as it would probably mean a big shake up of tactics and may not suit a large number of our other players but it's unfair to write him off as a failure at this stage.

I too think it's unfair to level the accusation at Robson that he didn't bring in quality players; Bardsley, Cahill, Speed, Martin, Carney, Sharp and Beattie are all good. His main crime (on the field of play) was not getting the best out of them.
